Greg "This is 1950's Mississippi" AbbottHow can this guy even be considered as a candidate by Texas voters? And he is their attorney general? Shameful. This is also the same candidate who is actively against handicapped rights. How can anybody take this guy seriously? #StandWithWendy[Edited on October 21, 2014 at 8:32 PM. Reason : ]

I dont know why you go out of your way to say missisippi when it was reality in nc until 67
10/21/2014 8:37:36 PM
ok? regardless this guy is clearly living in a different racist era.
10/21/2014 8:38:57 PM
that looks like one of those fox news graphics.does "no comment" = guilty now? i mean the guy clearly needs to answer the question, but that inherently means he hasn't actually said anything resembling what the title of this thread suggests.(full disclosure: i would guess the guy is a racist or just plain nuts)[Edited on October 22, 2014 at 12:02 AM. Reason : or both]

His wife is Mexican, so I find this hard to believe.
10/22/2014 2:57:36 AM
Is this a joke? It reminds me of the fake ads my family would talk about making for different candidates: "Kay Hagan has made it clear that she is opposed to slavery and child rape, but Elizabeth Dole has not commented [cue black and white picture of Dole looking deranged]. Elizabeth Dole doesn't think it's important that she take a strong chance against the rape of your children. [flash picture of adorable white toddlers] Elizabeth Dole apparently doesn't think opposition to slavery is important. [flash photos of slaves and lynchings] Elizabeth Dole: Wrong for our kids, wrong for our century."Based on what you've posted here, I can't even tell if the guy was ever asked about interracial marriage.
10/22/2014 5:02:21 AM
I'm sure he was, as a trap about gay marriage, and he clumsily tried to avoid it
10/22/2014 6:30:59 AM
okthe back story here is Wendy Davis (who is nuts) is way behind in the polls and is grasping at straws. In a debate she asked him some weird irrelevant hypothetical question about interracial marriage, which he answered by calling her out for asking an irrelevant hypothetical question. She accused him of not supporting interracial marriage, even though there is absolutely no legislation in recent history, currently, or planned in texas. She is doing the typical thing of accusing the republican of being a racist, when in fact he is in an interracial marriage himself. the other thing is that she has accused him of doing nothing for the rights of handicapped accident victims, even though he himself is paralyzed due to an accident.[Edited on October 22, 2014 at 8:34 AM. it's not irrelevant, it's a direct parallel to same sex marriage
10/22/2014 8:44:14 AM
that's not how she was using the question and we both know it. she wanted to be able to post on twitter that he doesn't support interracial marriage.
10/22/2014 9:13:01 AM
his position now for why he doesn't support same sex marriage is the same that was used by those opposed to interracial marriage even after the supreme court ruled on it. she was setting up a trap for him, and he graciously (well, stupidly) let her win the talking point.[Edited on October 22, 2014 at 9:23 AM. Future Texas Lt Gov Dan Patrick is a lot crazier though, he thinks that God was speaking to us through Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson
10/22/2014 9:25:19 AM
was he that nuts when he was on ESPN?
10/22/2014 9:37:19 AM
10/22/2014 11:56:37 AM
no, it's the same issue being repeated
10/22/2014 11:59:15 AM
i'll just concede this point to your stupidity and bow out gracefully
10/22/2014 12:01:36 PM
in both cases it is banning something because it's against a religion and the "traditional meaning" of marriage, it's wrong for the same reason in both cases, court decisions regarding interracial marriages are cited in same-sex marriage decisions, etc...same issue
10/22/2014 12:04:57 PM
just because there are similarities, it doesn't make it the same issue.
10/22/2014 12:06:26 PM
seem pretty similar to me[Edited on October 22, 2014 at 12:08 PM. Reason : two consenting adults]
10/22/2014 12:07:48 PM
OMG BUT IT'S NOT LITERALLY THE SAME ISSUE, LIKE OMG IT'S A DIFFERENT YEAR AND IT'S ADAM AND STEVE AND STUFF. IT'S, LIKE, THE SAME ISSUE AS FAR AS FIGURATIVELY, BUT NOT LITERALLY BRO.it's the same issueI'm sorry if it makes you upset to learn that history will remember you and your ideology in the same way it remembers racists[Edited on October 22, 2014 at 12:12 PM. Reason : truth stings bro]
10/22/2014 12:09:39 PM
as much as you want it to be, it really isn't. all the caps in the world won't make it the same. sorry, bro.
10/22/2014 12:12:05 PM
i thought you were bowing out? if you are sticking around, try to explain how they are different. i'll give you as much rope as you would like.
10/22/2014 12:12:55 PM
I did bow out. Hence, why I'm not providing explanations. Funny how you are implying my ideology when I haven't even stated it. Also, rope??? OMG racist!
10/22/2014 12:16:56 PM
You refuse to explain why you think they are "two very different topics"?
10/22/2014 12:23:05 PM
regardless, it's an obvious ploy to label Abbott as some sort of anti-interracial marriage racist, even though during his entire professional career interracial marriage has not been a current political issue. (and he is currently IN an interracial marriage.)
10/22/2014 12:23:29 PM
it was a ploy to get him to be a hypocrite for supporting same-sex marriage ideologically but not in practice, with the trap of being a racist if he saw the obvious goal and refrained (or said something dumb)it was gamesmanship and he lost
10/22/2014 12:26:47 PM
lol he didn't lose. it made Wendy Davis seem even more desperate.
10/22/2014 12:41:52 PM
^^I would rather have a good leader than a good gamesman. We have way too much gamesmanship going on.
10/22/2014 2:59:48 PM
well this guy is neither
10/22/2014 3:46:17 PM
thats a word i need to use more oftengamesman
