Ok, I have speaker system that the subwoofer kinda crackled and then smoked for a minute.
Is this a fuse or something fixable? If so anyone able to fix it for cheap? (pack of beer/etc)

Probably burned something on the board, such as the power supply, etc. You'd have to open it up to see what is burned and if it is replaceable. I doubt it's a fuse.

not really my area of expertise. I just know from experience. it's likely easier and just as inexpensive to get a new one.

fixing electronics is pricey (guaranteed $150). I wouldn't bother fixing anything worth under $500

just buy another set (easily under $100)

Call the manufacturer. You might be surprised.

I blew something up in a big Klipsch one time; they sent me a whole new electronics board for free, with nearly no questions asked. Just unbolted the back panel, unhooked a couple of wires, hooked the new panel up, and bolted it back on. All new guts for the sub, minus the speaker itself (and the cabinet, obviously).

1.) it's not a fuse
2.) it will be expensive to fix
