10/14/2014 2:10:11 PM
Frank's for making wing sauce.Texas Pete when I make spicy ranch salad dressing.
10/14/2014 2:31:13 PM
depends on the use. Texas Pete in conjunction with BBQ, Frank's Red Hot on wings.
10/14/2014 2:31:55 PM
I had a fling with Frank's, and after a while, it just started to taste like ketchup with a little kick to itbeing a NC native, I'm ride-or-die with Texas Pete, as all natives should be
10/14/2014 2:32:44 PM
I always have a a bottle or two of Texas Pete in my fridge and packets at my desk, but I think Frank's tastes better, and would get it more often if it was as cheap as Texas Pete.
10/14/2014 2:37:43 PM
Texas Pete if we are talking original hot sauce. I prefer Frank's wing sauce however. And tgl is right, if you're a native you have Texas Pete in your blood.

^^^absolutely ride or die carolina packers for me.[Edited on October 14, 2014 at 2:55 PM. Reason : ^those work in a pinch...essentially, red hot dogs > brown hot dogs fuck who don't agree]
10/14/2014 2:54:54 PM
I've never been to a family gathering where the phrase, "I'm not sure if we have Carolina Packers Red Hots or not" was uttered.I've never been to a family gathering where the question, "we have Texas Pete, right?" was asked. something terrible would had to have happened for there not to be a bottle of Texas Pete around
10/14/2014 3:00:13 PM
Texas Pete adds a bit of flavor when I don't want too much heat.
10/14/2014 3:10:29 PM
i'll concede that Frank's is better on wings, but that's irrelevant because i don't eat that yankee shit
10/14/2014 3:20:48 PM
wings are yankee shit?
10/14/2014 3:31:19 PM
they originated from north of the Mason-Dixon line
10/14/2014 3:37:06 PM
Really? I guess it makes sense, "Buffalo". But I have to assume people were eating chicken wings on plantations back in colonial times.
10/14/2014 3:40:59 PM
I think the distinction being "hot wings" or "buffalo wings" originating from up north. obviously a regular ol' chicken wing was eaten prior to that.
10/14/2014 3:46:02 PM
10/14/2014 4:02:18 PM
tiny ass buffalo wings are the worst cut of chicken, you shouldn't have to slather something with so much sauce that you need a bib for it to be edible. I don't understand why people like buffalo wings, you might as well just save time and only eat the sauce.
10/14/2014 4:14:30 PM
10/14/2014 4:25:58 PM
10/14/2014 4:38:02 PM
^that was exactly my point...eating chicken wings did not originate up north. buffalo wings did.
10/14/2014 4:57:58 PM
pouring hot sauce on a chicken wing makes it a hot wing, which is the context for the original comment. i think we can all agree on that.
10/14/2014 5:01:22 PM
somehow i bet that people put homemade hot sauce on chicken wings back on the farm... but i assume that it was popularized into a restraunt dish in buffalo

For some reason I read south instead of north [Edited on October 14, 2014 at 5:18 PM. Reason : the following comments make more sense now]

Here's the thing regarding red hot dogs:Jesse Jones Sausage Company made red dogs, and Jones Sausage Road in Garner is named for the site of the old plant. JJSC was founded in 1926.Carolina Packers made red dogs in Smithfield, and Buck Jones Road in Raleigh/Cary is named for their second generation president, John "Buck" Jones Jr. Carolina Packers was founded in 1940.So what did Jesse do to John to make him start his own company? And was Jesse Jones already making red hot dogs when Carolina Packers was founded, or did John innovate them with his new firm and then Jesse copied him?
