I don't know if I should feel bad for him or if he's lucky to be missing a lot of wear and tear while his draft stock is really high. It's only going to extend his career and keep him from getting Marcus Lattimored.I do find it interesting that this is exactly what the O'Bannon case found to be perfectly ok, but the changes haven't yet taken place.

The only thing that really bothers me with it is the most potential for a booster to say "if you come to X school I will buy your autograph for 20k." I think the NCAA/schools should just create payment compliance committees. Anytime a player will be paid for their likeness/autograph/commercial whatever they submit a payment concent form for approval. They then verify it is "fair market value" for the services, document and make public the payment and we move on. This only really matters to the small percent of players that can earn this money in college, so it wouldn't be overwhelming not like a bunch of 2nd string guards are having people line up to pay. This wouldn't prevent boosters paying players but it wouldnt create a legal loophole either. I'm generally a "legalize it, regulate it, and tax it" type person when it comes to these issues. Spend more time and money trying to police something that is this tough to even prove.
