P.S. That album came out in '97, making it 17 years old. And that song refers to a Wu-Tang song that came out in '94, which itself is 20 years old.

Why does it start at 5775? What do they call years before 5775?Also, this is blasphemous to Christians.

^I wasn't responding to your comment...I was just saying there weren't any Jews in Jew-Year 1. Or Jew-Year 1500, for that matter.I actually agree with you. I'd like to know WTF happened in ~ 3750 B.C. that inaugurated the Jewish calendar.]

It's the beginning of human kind. Since some Christians believe humans were created on day 6 of existence, that's where the "young earth" theory comes from.
9/24/2014 3:02:38 PM
So Jews think the world didn't exist 6000 years ago?I thought only those wacko bible thumpers thought that.
9/24/2014 5:38:23 PM
Actually wacko Torah-thumpers believe that literally too, but their reckoning (based on Maimonides in the late 12th century CE) is a little different from Bishop James Ussher's (mid 17th century).
9/24/2014 6:47:28 PM
Here's the reason why Jews don't believe the world is so young. The world was created in 6 days, on the 7th day, G-d rested. The sun and the moon were created on day 4.Without a sun and a moon, there would be no way to know what was day and what was night. Therefor, those first seven "days" couldn't have meant 24 hours as we know them know. A day could have been millions or billions of years.
9/24/2014 7:42:48 PM
So the earth is older than the sun. Got it.
9/24/2014 7:52:41 PM
May you be inscribed...
9/24/2014 9:27:01 PM
^^It could mean that from the earth's surface you couldn't see the sun until that moment, which makes sense with all the gasses in our atmosphere that hadn't cooled yet.
9/25/2014 12:52:08 PM
well then, that would mean that the sun and moon were not created on day 4, but only became visible on day 4. and this is silly.
