I had it from time to time at my grandparents' house, like 20ish years agoI seem to recall it wasn't bad thenstill, there are many better cereals, in my humble view.

eatable iff you use chocolate milk

I loved Kix. I may or may not have sprinkled a little extra sugar on them.I tried out and/or consistently ate just about every type of cereal as a kid. I consider myself an expert.
9/23/2014 8:28:33 AM
Do kids today still eat cereal, or have we finally figured out how unhealthy it is?
9/23/2014 9:43:12 AM
I always liked Kix. Then again, we were never allowed 'Kid's Cereal' in the house growing up.
9/23/2014 10:16:33 AM
Yeah, we weren't allowed to eat the sugary cereals or put sugar on our cereal. or pop-tarts. I enjoyed Kix. Is un-sugary cereal really that unhealthy compared to other things kids would eat for breakfast?
9/23/2014 10:21:04 AM
Kix has 20g of carbs per serving and almost no fiber or protein (and in most bowls you are probably eating more than one serving)yeah, that's a pretty terrible breakfast for a kid, most cereals are
9/23/2014 10:25:00 AM
That was actually one of our "treat" cereals that we didn't get very often. I think we usually ate rice crispies, or wheat chex or total.and i ate cereal morning, noon and night and was a very active kid that was always skinny.what do you think kids should eat for breakfast?[Edited on September 23, 2014 at 10:28 AM. 9/23/2014 10:26:46 AM
rice crispies, wheat chex, and total are basically the same or slightly more unhealthy (although you get a tiny bit more fiber with wheat chex and total). rice crispies are terriblethe issue is not about being skinny or not, its about what constantly eating empty carbohydrates does to your metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and even hormones. I was a cinnamon toast crunch kid for a while... then graduated to golden grahams.
9/23/2014 10:58:14 AM
yeah, we usually had some meat or egg and fruit with the cereal in the morning. i dunno, maybe i was an exception, but i don't think my cereal-addiction as a kid had any negative effects on my body that i'm aware of. or maybe it takes a half-century to kick in.
9/23/2014 11:00:57 AM
i didn't wear a seatbelt growing up and never died in a car accident, therefore i think its a totally safe thing to do
9/23/2014 11:02:47 AM
^^^^ I ate more cereal and little debbie snack cakes as well as drank more sweet tea and sun drop than any kid I knew growing up. I turned out fine. With that being said...my kids are going to eat a lot healthier than I did...but I will afford them a bowl of cereal in the morning if they so desire.[Edited on September 23, 2014 at 11:03 AM. cereals were really the only unhealthy stuff we kept in the house when i was growing up. and my parents certainly weren't health nuts. but they just rarely bought coke, candy, chips, etc.part of that, i think, is because i grew up on a farm and fresh vegetables and stuff were always around and always part of our meals.but i'd eat the shit outta some cinnamon toast crunch, waffle crisp, apple jacks, count chocula. [Edited on September 23, 2014 at 11:38 AM. Reason : d]
9/23/2014 11:36:41 AM
We never had soda, chips, candy, etc. in our house. And I only got Count-Chocula and Lucky Charms and the like when I stayed at my cousin's or friends' houses. But I ate a ton of "healthier" cereal and cheese singles and drank a ton of juice, tea and milk.
9/23/2014 11:57:06 AM
orange juice was probably the most unhealthy thing we had in our house growing up
9/23/2014 11:59:09 AM
i used to like the Special K Protein cereal which was "healthier" but it was discontinued

How sad is your life that someone on the internet makes you angry enough that you want to hit them
9/23/2014 5:01:52 PM
Touche, although I often wonder how sad your life must be that you often purposely go out of your way to be an argumentative jerk on the internet.
9/23/2014 5:06:40 PM
Everything I say is correct, you are projecting your anger where it doesn't exist when you think I am trolling

Right... it's not you, it's everyone else (delusions of grandeur? )[Edited on September 23, 2014 at 5:32 PM. Reason : although, i must admit, in this thread, you actually kept the jerkiness to a minimum]

Orange juice is terrible, you might as well drink Mountain Dew
9/23/2014 9:14:31 PM
Mountain Dew has orange juice in it. Therefore mountain dew is orange juice.
