Is there anywhere that serves the real stuff? Or does anyone have a good recipe?

The miso ramen at Tokyo house on six forks is authentic and good. Waraji makes good ramen, but only for lunch

I make it at home, but the noodle bar at Kanki @ CVM is pretty close to authentic. I lived in Japan for 7 years, so I know what I'm talkin' bout.

Really? That's what inspired this thread. I thought Torii was awful.

I'll check out Tokyo House and it's good to know Waraji has it at lunch. I had expected them to have it but didn't see it on their dinner menu.

My brother lived in Japan for 5 years and my sister in law is Japanese. Tokyo house is our go to for ramen, waraji for nigiri, and sushi tsune for tenzaru soba

^^I'll check that out. Agree on Waraji for nigiri.

If anyone checks out Dashi I'd like to hear about it. I saw Fhqwhgads post about it today and I really want to try it

Torii is really good. I love their bento boxes as well. With that said, I hardly ever see anyone in there. I'll be surprised if it stays in business.

My mother and I will make Okinawan Soba noodles. She's Okinawan herself and she loves Torii for their close authenticity to traditional/mainland Japanese noodles and lunch boxes.

Walmart in garner has the best Ramen. Just open it and eat it raw.

I went to Torii once for lunch a month ago and it was good. I really enjoyed the Ramen I ordered. My only complaint was that I felt the dish was a little expensive for what I actually got.

But I've never been to Japan, and have no preconceptions around what authentic Ramen is supposed to taste like.

I'll have to give Tokyo House a try and compare.

I don't get going to a restaurant and ordering Ramen...it seems like ordering cereal or a PBJ

Because maruchan ramen is NOT ramen.

I don't even get the shit at Food Lion or Harris Teeter anymore.

I've been spoiled by the packages I can't read at the Asian Market in Cary.

Pretty sure they contain 1000% of my yearly recommended MSG intake though

Dashi is getting dissapointing reviews, main complaint seems to be overpriced. The yakimono is supposed to be good, but you apparently can't order if you are eating ramen, nor can you order ramen if you are upstairs at the Izakaya where they serve the yakimono

^^That's super disappointing, though the prices are somewhat high so I guess I get that.
