http://www.hlntv.com/article/2014/06/19/baby-dead-hot-car-cobb-county-justin-ross-harris-charged-murder?hpt=hp_t4I can't begin to imagine how this father feels. We don't know what was going through his head that morning, but he very well could've been really stressed out. Guy forgot to drop his kid off at daycare, was probably on autopilot and drove straight to work, forgetting his son was in the car. Just scary and heartbreaking. Now the guy is being charged with felony murder and child abuse. That sounds harsh. What if the mom usually drops the kid off?
6/20/2014 11:14:18 AM
dont kids generally make noise?
6/20/2014 11:16:45 AM
My daughter falls asleep on the way home from her daycare, and doesn't make a peep.
6/20/2014 11:25:25 AM
Manslaughter and child endangerment yes. Murder no. Makes me cry. Mine is with me almost 24/7 and if I do drive somewhere without him by my heart starts racing at some point, thinking I have left him somewhere. That poor man.
6/20/2014 11:36:26 AM
jeez, reading that made me feel sick for the guy.

It does seem unlikely that he missed it twice. But it could happen. Lots of cars have tinted windows and people rear face for a long time now. So our seat is rear facing in the center and if I didn't look in my rear view I wouldn't know he was in it unless I actively checked. And ours is an infant seat. Convertibles have higher backs and I would assume an almost 2 year old would be in a convertible seat. [Edited on June 20, 2014 at 11:52 AM. Reason : .]

i supposebut it still seems kind of..... off
6/20/2014 11:55:46 AM
We don't know all the circumstances. Mom may usually take him to school, maybe he was stressed about something at work, maybe he was sick or tired or hungover. Doesn't excuse him but at least humanizes the situation.[Edited on June 20, 2014 at 12:03 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2014 11:59:02 AM
like someone said, maybe he rarely drives with the child. i rarely look in the backseat and i've completely forgot that i've loaded something back there that i was supposed to drop off or take home. i'd like to give this guy the benefit of the doubt at this time. it's a tragedy either way.
6/20/2014 12:00:41 PM
damn child neglecting neckbeard
6/20/2014 12:11:07 PM
Just the thought of accidentally doing this is petrifying.
6/20/2014 12:37:14 PM
good chance statistically that he suffers from sleep apnea induced sleep deprivation, i hope his attorney considers that
6/20/2014 12:42:28 PM
I have a family friend of a friend that also had to deal with this. The word tragedy is overused nowadays. This is a real tragedy. We have a household rule to not have a car seat in our cars unless we are taking our son somewhere. The seat is huge and obtrusive. That way hopefully I always think if seat is present = where is toddler?
6/20/2014 3:20:56 PM
you have to be an idiot for this to ha[en.
6/20/2014 3:31:23 PM

I almost did this one day. I got to work and then looked in the back and saw her there...asleep.I about cried thinking about the horror of her screaming for help as I was inside working.Freaking awful... only a parent would know this feeling. Everyone else is just a heartless troll.
6/20/2014 3:49:08 PM
[/shitty parent]ok even my alias troll can only go so far. this shit happens more than people think and it's truly a tragedy. [Edited on June 20, 2014 at 3:52 PM. Reason : ]
6/20/2014 3:51:48 PM
shitty troll
6/20/2014 3:52:08 PM
Hell a week or two ago someone stole my kids carseat out of the back of my car. Even knowing someone had rummaged through my vehicle I didnt notice the car seat missing until after I got to work. Granted he very rarely rides with me but I can see how this is at least plausible. Big difference between not noticing a seat and not remembering your child is back there though.
6/20/2014 4:02:15 PM
and i'm sure one day when he was terrified about having a child some asshole said"Don't worry, you'll be a great dad!!! You will just have to learn as you go"
6/20/2014 4:07:30 PM
This is probably the exact reason they invented tying a string around your finger
6/20/2014 4:11:02 PM
I have twins. I couldn't forget they were in the car if I tried. The car seats literally take up half the vehicle.
6/20/2014 5:21:46 PM
You must have some morbidly obese kids, if their car seats take up literally half your vehicle.
6/20/2014 5:31:01 PM
Two rear-facing seats claim the whole rear seating area seat. You can sit between them if you're super skinny.
6/20/2014 5:33:27 PM
^^trollololol
6/20/2014 5:36:34 PM
Sucks. I find it odd that he did not realize before the end of the day. If he takes sleeping pills or something he might be like zombie in the morning and no know wtf he is doing.
6/20/2014 5:38:09 PM
The clear solution is to ban parents. I bet if that kid was armed this never would have happened.
6/20/2014 5:50:01 PM
My wife always calls me after she drops our daughter off, and we talk about anything going on at daycare for that day. Doing that is a nice check against something like this.
6/20/2014 6:07:47 PM
Something still strikes me as strange for them to hit him with felony murder charges and NO bond...
6/20/2014 6:12:29 PM
maybe he would not cooperate with being interrogated so they just hit him with the worst thing he might be guilty ofThe article says he fucking freaked when he found out what happened.
6/20/2014 8:08:19 PM
^I can understand the complete freakout, you know killing your toddler and all.I can sorta understand the charges (for the time being) even if it was completely accidental.I don't understand the lack of bail.
6/20/2014 8:27:04 PM
my wife and I discussed this and both teared up last night (~ i know)... i can't imagine the guilt and suffering that the parents go through when something like this happens. I've definitely gone into the driving daze and drove my normal route to work when i was actually going somewhere else. I can't say that i've ever come even close to forgetting a kid, but then again my wife is the one who drops them off... i pick them up. (and no, i've never forgotten to pick them up)
6/20/2014 8:28:02 PM
I do the pickup and my wife does the dropoff as well. I'm pretty routine oriented until I get to work - sometimes, if I mean to go out of my way, like to get gas, I will find myself on autopilot and just drive to work forgetting the gas.Maybe the guy did that.
6/20/2014 8:57:50 PM
6/20/2014 9:14:32 PM
I'm going to hell for laughing at that
6/20/2014 9:26:28 PM
See you there
6/20/2014 9:34:36 PM
5 months ago i would have looked at a story like this and been like "well, that sucks. what's for lunch?". But now that my son was born in February this story fucking kicks me in the balls. I hate it.
6/20/2014 9:45:59 PM
^^^^i bet that never happened.
6/20/2014 11:54:36 PM
^^^^^i bet that never happened.[Edited on June 20, 2014 at 11:54 PM. Reason : ]
it's still an excellent story.
6/20/2014 11:57:43 PM
^you are a creepy mother fucker and OF COURSE you would think it's an excellent story.
6/21/2014 12:01:10 AM
http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/21/us/toddler-car-death-probe/index.html?hpt=hp_t2Sounds like the fathers story is not adding up.
6/21/2014 10:06:52 AM
^^several other people do too, it seemsyou sure have taken a turn for the trollish, though, over the past few weeks. I only wish you'd try to be more amusing about it. because a lot of your recent aggression has just been raw animosity, devoid of wit; and I know you've got plenty of humor in you, if you'd only let it shine through.
6/21/2014 1:45:38 PM
yeah i was in a bad mood last night. don't take it personally.
6/21/2014 1:49:37 PM
word. very good of you to say that.[Edited on June 21, 2014 at 2:24 PM. Reason : ]
6/21/2014 1:55:47 PM
If it were simply an accident, I would feel bad for the father knowing that he would be punished in his own mental hell for the rest of his life. If it was not accidental as this story implies, then this bastard is some special kind of sick.
6/22/2014 3:27:13 PM
I can only imagine how pissed his wife is.
6/22/2014 9:46:29 PM
I keep my bag in the backseat whether little man is in my car or not. Did the same with his sisters. Hard to imagine it happening, but I don't think everyone of these people is a monster.Any time I get in my car in the summer, and particularly when putting kids in the car, I get a sick feeling at the the briefest thought of this happening. Make it a point to notice the cars around you in the parking lot. One nosey coworker could have saved that child's life.
