This stupid fucking place.....

I lived in Carolina Beach until last month, my girlfriend still lives there. All the locals avoid this place like the plague. I don't know what possessed the owners to put giant fucking crabs and sea animals all over the building. It makes the town look like Myrtle Beach.

As for the food, its fucking horrid. I tried it, just to say I made an effort. The seafood is mostly frozen/imported. There is a seafood house and commercial boats literally 100ft away, yet they sell cheap frozen shit instead of supporting local fisherman.

I hate seeing crappy tourist establishments like this move into quaint beach towns.

Fuck. This. Place.

^^ not necessarily. Larry's Southern Kitchen has a phenomenal lunch buffet. Milton's has a good buffet on the weekends too.

I was trying to formulate this thought...you phrased it perfectly before I could quite do so.

Quaint beach town? I've always thouhgt Carolina Beach was a mini-Myrtle Beach, going back to the late 80s at least.

Any seafood buffet is going to be garbage. If it was all fresh, local stuff, it would be $50 a person to stock that much food. It's $27 for shitty Chinese Restaurant style stuff. Think about that.

A normal, good sized combo plate of fried shrimp and oysters with hush puppies, slaw, and fries from a local place is like $20 max, and ain't nobody got any need to eat All You Can Eat. Congrats, you paid a extra 10 bucks for diahreah and jello for desert.

Maybe if you only stay on the boardwalk or the North End....

Seabreeze, Kure Beach, Fort Fisher, and any of the number of islands in the river and waterway are all awesome parts of the Pleasure Island/CB area with no crowds or tourist traps.

Outside of tourist season, downtown Carolina Beach is awesome and laid back.

You have all the great food Wilmington has to offer so close by, and you choose to eat this garbage for 2x as much. But hey, you get PUDDING!!!1

I enjoy "Something Fishy" in Wilmington...

It is often overlooked and underrated.

It's cheap but you get plenty and no one slops food all over the floor.

PSA: Parents! I know you think it's cute or a "learning experience" to let your kid that's too small try to grab stuff from the buffet. They are small and uncoordinated, however, and it will get dumped on the floor or on everyone else. I watched a mom give her kid a garlic shaker to shake some on their pizza once. The 2 year old proceeds to smash the thing into the plate sending the pizza and garlic (the only garlic shaker) everywhere and all over the gathered crowd. The mom just giggles and leaves with the kid.

I think 2-3 of those reviews in the op say that it was 80. One said they didn't care, one turned around, one said it was covered up.. Unless you meant something else to verify that

The only thing wrong with this place is the price.

Otherwise, unlimited fried seafood of any quality makes for a great restaurant.

I lived at Carolina Beach for a couple of years.

I went to Zaaki grill all the time. Best Gyro ive ever had.

I never went to that place, or any seafood place on Carolina Beach. There are better restaurants on the river downtown for that

Carolina Beach was a good place to live in the summer. Very chill and loved driving out on the beach.

Yes there are rednecks but they are very easy to avoid unlike Myrtle.

one of my best friends' family owns that place. I worked there for a summer. good fried food, so glad I dont work there anymore though

The Dive down on the Boardwalk in CB makes an excellent fish taco, the Shuckin Shack isnt a bad place to get some oysters. Michaelangelo's Pizza is great if you want a huge single slice of pizza. Sandpiper Subs (which I think is gone now) used to make the best subs I've ever had.

If you go down to CB though, you gotta get a few beers at the Fat Pelican

was down in CB this past weekend. Everyday for dinner this place was PACKED! I guess when you have a bunch of tourists and it's the only buffet that stands out in CB. I never went in to check the Sanitation grade though.

My go to chill spot is The Lazy Pirate. They just actually opened the bar and "shack" outside and are doing boils and oysters and some other stuff out there now.

We went to the shuckin shack at the word of my friend who lives in CB. Got a couple of the steampot boils and it was amazingly good.

plus, in the mornings you MUST go to Britt's for their doughnuts. long'ish wait but well worth it

I worked in a seafood buffet restaurant for several years, and I gotta disagree, it was pretty disgusting.
