http://www.wral.com/proposed-gas-pipeline-worries-triangle-residents/13705846/

Anyone get or know anyone that got letters? Looking at the map, this might come near my property.

that looks like its close to me as well

im guessing it will be like the fiber optic line that came through awhile back
(if you just agree they pay you a little something, if you fight it, they still eventually do it and pay you less, if anything)

""I'm not real comfortable with the process," Shahravar said, adding that she's more concerned about safety than about the impact of a pipeline across the wooded 10-acre property she and her husband have owned since 1991.

She said she shredded Spectra's latest letter.

"I shredded their permission slip," she said with a laugh. "I'm not going to willingly (participate).""

A natural gas pipeline isn't a bad thing on its own, but with this NCGA, any contract winning company will likely be given the flexibility to cut whatever corners they see fit. I could also see the legislature pressuring or even forcing property owners to comply. If you think this is an over reaction, just review everything that has happened recently over fracking and how little the rights of municipalities and property owners matters to them.

^^You make a very valid and unfortunate point with the NCGA.

A number of property owners received letters from Spectra Energy up here in Orange County, VA; they're eyeing a path through the western portion of the county. They're proposing a pipeline through the conservation area of our county, so it'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
