There was a massive encampment of homeless people where Renaissance Park is now up through the 90s and maybe a little into the 2000s. The News and Observer did a story about them. It was a really burgeoning community of people who just dropped out of society. After it got bulldozed, where did they go? I heard maybe behind KMart on 401 but never verified that.

these people are frauds. they're really hippie liberal activists tricking you into believing that there is a homeless problem and therefore we need more government control, oversight, redistribution of wealth, obamacare, and higher taxes.

I guess I'm retarded, but I initially thought "homeless camp" was like soccer camp or band camp: just a summer camp the theme of which is homelessness. Like, the little kids go to homeless camp and live like homeless people for four weeks.I haven't had my coffee yet.]

^^ so that's why they've been there since before anyone knew who Obama was? They were there back in the 80s, mang. When Brendle's was still there.

^^HAHAWhat are the crafts like at Homeless Camp?

Well, Homeless Camp has worked out a deal with the local garbage-hauling company, so that fresh loads of garbage are dumped there every day. When the kids arrive, they have to scrounge through the garbage-heap to find materials for their tents. This is also where they procure their food. The classic crafting activity at Homeless Camp is cardboard-sign-making. The kids are given a sheet of cardboard and a magic marker, and given an hour to make their sign: "Homeless , Hungry , AIDS , God Bless," for example. Kids who copy others' signs are severely punished. Then the kids get to go ply their trades on highway exit-ramps for an hour. The kid who earns the most money gets to keep a dollar.Another popular activity at Homeless Camp is vein-hunting. The local hospital donates used syringes to Homeless Camp, some of which are labeled "AIDS": the counselor removes the labels but numbers the syringes. The kids then pick the syringes randomly from a jar, everyone shoots up, and then the counselor reveals which kid just got the AIDS.You have to sign a waiver to go.

In last year there was a homeless tent city off s. Wilmington just past shelter on right in woods near where the greenway comes thru. May b gone now. Camped near there a few times but don't like the people. Prefer woods where no one goes.

My old attorney Earle Purser owns all that land and let them camp there. Now, he was like literally like 90 years old and out with pneumonia at the beginning of my hacking trial, so he may be gone by now. And if so, his kids probably sold it off.
