It's time to start this

I'm really hoping lefty comes to play. That would be the ultimate full circle redemption story for him with this history on the course and in this tournament in general.

I'm just going Friday this time around. I want to watch the weekend, especially Sunday, on TV so as to not miss a shot from any of the leaders.

Somebody at work offered me tickets for Friday.

Don't watch a lot of golf and never been to a golf tournament before. Should I go? Any tips on if I do? Do I have to wear a visor and polo shirt?

PSA: As tempting as it may be, don't speed much over the 60 speed limit on US 1 once you get into Moore County, same applies for Carthage on 15/501. Both are speed traps normally, and I'm sure will be even more so during the open.

So who has everybody got?

Jason Day has a real good shot at this course in my opinion. Hits his irons super high, he's a good driver, and he has that major champ experience from contending quite a few times to this point.

I'll be pulling for Phil though. I really want to see him seal the deal on this course.

went to the practice round yesterday, going back today and tomorrow, its pretty awesome but hot as fuck

I was always pretty indifferent about Jason Day, but he went out of his way to walk through the crowd signing autographs, I really like the guy now

Going on Friday. It will be my first golf tournament. How easy will it be/Will I be able to sneak in airplane bottles?

Depends. If you park in either the Red or Blue lots, they'll run you through a metal detector and make you empty every pocket and check every pouch in every bag you're bringing.

If you can get to the course without going through either of those two parking lots, your odds are better.

Went today and just got back. Hot as balls. We ended up sitting in the stands at the 18th tee b/c they are in the shade. Saw most of the morning practice field play through.

I really wanted to go this year, but the combo of Father's Day + my daughter's birthday didn't make for a weekend I could attend. I went on Sunday in 2004 and it was a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone with even the slightest level of interest in golf, or sports for that matter. It's a rare chance to attend a world class sporting event in our own backyard.

that's a good shot. really cool. how approachable was he?

I had the option to go down for either of the first 3 rounds but my interest just wasn't there this year. Probably more so because of who offered the tickets. Just not the people I wanted to spend an entire day with . Had a blast back in 05 drinking in the VIP tents and even as a teen back in 99.

After spending Monday through Wednesday out there I really don't think I would wanna be out there much on the weekend. Thursday and Friday would be cool, but it's hard to catch all of the action and scores from the course. Plus its hot as fuck out there

The practice rounds are the way to go IMO. I got to see all the golfers and met a few too

If you go on the weekend I would recommend finding a spot with some shade near a hole and parking it all day as opposed to trying to follow a group around. The very top of the grandstands at 14 is the place to be, its shaded and gets a great view of the tee or green of 12,13,14 & 15.

It would have to rain for a few days straight in order to really effect that course. The sand and silt really drain the water quick.

not really though.

If they have some cloud cover that takes a while to burn off just like yesterday, it basically evens the field since the morning wave yesterday played a much easier course.

I'm headed out about 7:30

aimorris come say hi if you see me

Mistakes from yesterday:

1.)Didn't apply enough sunscreen.
2.)Went to the trophy club. (40 minute food line)

There's an awesome area behind 15 with a bunch of concessions and tables in front of big video board. It's in the middle of like 4 holes. Great place to relax if you're back in that part of the course.
