Just read a post on Facebook from a dad who's worried about his daughter hanging out with the wrong kinda kids.
Her name is Rebel.

Recently born babies of friends:

Hazeleigh: trying too hard to be original and trendy at the same time
CeeCee: amusing
Purple:
Ned: Not a weird name, but he's not named after anyone or anything. "Ned" just seems random for an infant, lol.

Ned makes me laugh, which is weird since it is actually a name.

that would pass for an African name

maybe she's defying her dad because she's...a rebel

There's a baby Lincoln in my newsfeed, always cracks me up

On another forum I'm on there's woman deciding what to name her son, it's between Leon, Orson, and Oliver. Right now Oliver is winning but I voted for Orson.

Another popular one I keep seeing is Elodie.

I feel like the name Abraham would endow that person with the sheer nobility to be able to ship a secret santa present. But that's just how I feel.

Went to the PNC Bank on Tryon and Holly Springs Rd once and some (temporary) teller was named Loquacious. Of course I asked about it and she replied that her mom was always talking in school so her friends nicknamed her that while growing up. WTF!?!?!!?!

I don't mind the crazy names. I like a name that stands out a bit. However, I feel like some of these folks forget that their kids are going to grow up and such. Give them a wacky middle name and a normal enough first name. Let them decide.

On the other hand if all the Hazeleighs, Cutters, and Eurekas grow up around the same time, then maybe the names will just naturally shift so that they're not so far outside the norm?

My wife's crazy aunt named one of her sons Jaxon, and she calls him Jax for short. Someone in the family made an offhand comment about how stupid the name is, and she took it personally and withdrew from the family for a while. What the fuck did you expect, lady? You knew that name was fucked up when you chose it, and if you didn't, I guarantee you that almost everyone around you did. You have surrounded yourself with people who will not speak up to correct you on a dumb name. Congratulations.

that doesn't seem very weird to me. the spelling is a little different than "jackson" but i've heard Jax used quite a bit. (even before SoA)

^^I think it's the spelling of Jaxon instead of Jackson that makes it weird, not the nickname Jax. I actually like it. And it's not so far out there that family members would be justified in crapping on someone else's name choice. I don't really blame her for getting pissed.

A baby named Ned just won this thread

I'm lolling so hard

Ned is Scottish slang for working-class, poorly educated, aggressive teenagers.

The funniest name I ever came across was a girl I tutored named Fancy Dice. I also tutored a white kind named Tyreece, which always blew my mind.
