Obviously, not understanding the basics of healthcare is a bajillion times worse than not understanding presidential term limits. The first one actually affects people. The second one does not.[/thread]Also, you're welcome. I'm here to answer stupid questions any time.
4/24/2014 6:58:23 PM
I'm glad this woman, dumb as she is, now has healthcare she can afford. This helps keep costs down for the rest of us. It's good to see our government working for all it's citizens.

Thank you wolf2ranger for reminding us that politics don't have to be partisan, and these issues aren't just points each side can score on, but rather meaningful ideas that directly impact people's lives.

I forget how blind to reality liberals are sometimes.moron, she may be getting health insurance, and I bet she has a couple of doctors she can go see based on her $10 a month. Given her vast knowledge of the health care system however, I seriously doubt she would know where to go to find these doctors. Thus, when she or her children, if she has them, get the sniffles, she'll be up in the ER like everybody else getting cheap insurance, which will in fact keep everyone's insurance premiums high.
4/24/2014 8:54:08 PM
do you guys ever get tired of being so dumb and racist?
4/24/2014 8:56:01 PM
WTF - how was anything I've said here, or ever on this forum, racist? Did anybody even bring up color? I don't recall the OP mentioning anything about race. You were the first one here to bring it up.
4/24/2014 9:02:09 PM
10th word
4/24/2014 9:02:52 PM
I'm not racist, I simply stated a fact, a near verbatim description of what happened.I fell bad for all of you who pay $texas for healthcare just to cover other people.
4/24/2014 9:05:09 PM
Because of the way I vote, I wouldn't be able to convince you that I wasn't a racist even if I told you I was married to a black person , attended a black church, and donated money to the NAACP.
4/24/2014 9:05:55 PM
Who do you think paid for it before when they would just show up to the ER? At least now it's a little predictable instead of just jacked up rates to make up for bad hospital debts.

^^No, we pay for it to get her premiums down to $10/month, as well as when she goes to the ER needlessly.

It looks like somebody is making an attempt to search Wake County real estate records.Would you like my SSN as well? If it were my house, how does that have any bearing on this topic? And why is it that moron, dtownral, and rjrumfel can't all post in a chit chat thread together without gaying it up with TSB stuff. You have the option to buy a house same as everybody else, and could take advantage of the same deduction. Whoever's house that is...how do you know it isn't paid for? If it were paid for, there'd be no mortgage deduction.[Edited on April 24, 2014 at 9:15 PM. Reason : ads]

That's not exactly true with government subsidiesThere's a reason most people who pay for individual healthcare had their premiums increaseAs for group healthcare, those policies were overpriced as shit already, which is why many of the corporate plans didn't increase
4/25/2014 12:10:42 AM
^ the whole purpose of insurance is to share costs. Most people who have insurance pay more into that insurance than they get out of it. If they didn't, insurance wouldn't work. The increase in premiums is merely due to the decrease in free riders. Those costs were still in the system somewhere, they were just being eaten by the tax payer, or the hospitals/care providers. Now they are being eaten by the end-user.If you assume better preventative care, in the medium-term, universal coverage should have lower costs per capita than a system with no predictably in payment sources (what we had before) for care providers. This assumes that Americans will embrace the availability of healthcare. We are not a society known to really care too much about health...
4/25/2014 12:19:57 AM
I'd argue the whole purpose of insurance is to make money since most of the time it isn't used. I've paid for car insurance for nearly 20 years and only had one, ultra-low speed accident. I've paid for health insurance and never had to use it. Even insurance on a home is basically just funneling money into a cash cow, aside from when there is a hurricane or other catastrophic event which causes insurance companies to actually pay money instead of just earning interest off your premiums. The fact is, insurance premiums went up a lot when a policy that claimed "insurance for all" was implemented, because as you said, now people who pay for insurance DO cover other people.[Edited on April 25, 2014 at 12:25 AM. Reason : can't wait until the cost of buying a car goes up so that everyone can have a car]
