Tune in the CNN. "Multiple people shot, multiple buildings, 1 shooter" CNN is on top of this
4/2/2014 6:27:05 PM
another day, another mass shooting in a gun-free zone. it sure does make tons of fucking sense that people check out machine guns from base armories every day, take them out to their cars, and then drive unsupervised to the range every single day, for decades on end without incident...but you can't keep your lawfully concealed handgun in your glovebox (or on your person) on base.by the way, not only is this the 2nd mass shooting aboard Ft Hood, it's right on the heels of the Norfolk shooting, which was itself 1 day after the 1-year anniversary of the Quantico shooting.

4/2/2014 6:57:46 PM
So, are we still on board with that "guns don't kill people..." Thing?
4/2/2014 7:04:15 PM
Shooter confirmed dead
4/2/2014 7:10:58 PM
The news a few minutes ago said there might have been 2 shooters
4/2/2014 7:26:20 PM
^ I feel like I hear that rumor for every mass shooting
4/2/2014 7:44:46 PM
Yeah
4/2/2014 7:45:39 PM
14 victims4 confirmed dead, including the shooterApparently, the shooter was Ivan Lopez?[Edited on April 2, 2014 at 7:56 PM. Reason : Jj]

How often do mass shootings have to happen in this country until someone finally does something about it? And lol at the metal detector, armed guards everywhere solution or the everyone should carry a gun on them at all times solution[Edited on April 2, 2014 at 9:16 PM. Reason : ]
4/2/2014 9:15:50 PM
Why do people still this human "progress" is nothing but an illusion?
4/2/2014 9:16:36 PM
^^^I wouldn't say they're a "cause", and I don't think it's the only factor of influence, but in the last 20 years, there have been 50-ish mass shootings, and all but one have been in a gun-free zone.^^ not suggesting that everyone should be armed all the time. I'm suggesting that people who can legally carry most other places, and are extremely statistically safe, many of whom carry weapons for a living, anyway, should be allowed to carry on base, as they were up until the early 90s.*[Edited on April 2, 2014 at 9:27 PM. Reason : * at the discretion of the base commander]
4/2/2014 9:17:02 PM
Sounds like we have a good handle on where we should have tighter gun regulation then
4/2/2014 9:21:46 PM
yeah, we should just do what's not working even more.
4/2/2014 9:29:37 PM
It's just perverse that you would come in here with your diatribe about how you are personally inconvenienced after yet another mass shooting. How about no one gives a shit.
4/2/2014 9:37:37 PM
It would be awfully inconvenient to get fucking shot/robbed/attacked/etc and not be able to defend myself.what's perverse is your interpretation of that statistic. correlation isn't causality, i know...and maybe i'd say your viewpoint is valid if it was half of the mass shootings...but when the record is on the order of 50-1 over the course of 2 decades, and the downside of my suggested policy is extremely minimal? I can only view your argument as completely nonsensical.[Edited on April 2, 2014 at 9:50 PM. Reason : ]

Army Specialist, Ivan Lopez, took his own life.
4/2/2014 9:58:44 PM
Gun nuts are the case in point of how to lie with statistics.
4/2/2014 10:10:54 PM
Can't imagine my own fellow soldiers being allowed to carry weapons during a work day, other than LEO or MPs. That would solve little to nothing. Crazies are crazy and do crazy things in crazy ways.
4/2/2014 10:23:50 PM
CNN Stating he wore "battle fatigues?" and carried a "semi-automatic handgun"basically the army uniform...wtf are battle fatigues...and Im not aware of any handgun made after 1940 has not been semi automatic.
4/2/2014 10:32:53 PM
^^i'm not saying that everyone should or that everyone should be allowed to.i'm saying that the authority should be delegated like it used to be. Base CO can set the policy. If the base CO allowed it, presumably subordinate commanders could still be more restrictive. In other words, a base CO could allow it, with guidance given to tenant commands. A unit CO could then allow, say, staff NCOs and officers who are already licensed CCP holders to carry.^ umm, revolvers are, in normal parlance, not referred to as "semi-automatic". There are also a few single-shot or break-action handguns, although they're usually sort of oddities.[Edited on April 2, 2014 at 10:36 PM. Reason : ][Edited on April 2, 2014 at 10:37 PM. Reason : but yes, saying that the soldier was wearing his uniform is not noteworthy]
4/2/2014 10:34:39 PM

having it accessible doesn't compel you to pull it out, but not having it accessible denies the option.
4/2/2014 11:07:40 PM
the option to get shot
4/2/2014 11:11:20 PM
I reckon most of the time during a robbery the victims/bystanders carrying don't pull it out. I'm pretty sure it's because people that need a gun to feel safe are too chickenshit to actually use it.
4/2/2014 11:11:49 PM
then in that case, you have nothing to worry about, and you can safely shut the fuck up about it.^^ you cannot possibly be that obtuse.
4/2/2014 11:13:03 PM
you think you'd have the time to grab your gun with a gun already in your face?
4/2/2014 11:16:06 PM
you people who jump on something like this and say "OMFG GUN CONTROL" make me sick.
4/2/2014 11:18:33 PM
ok, never mind, you really are that obtuse.
4/2/2014 11:18:36 PM
have you been in that situation in your life?
4/2/2014 11:20:49 PM
Just miles from your doorstep, hundreds of men are given weapons and trained to kill. The government calls it the "army", but a more alarmist name would be The Killbot Factory.

4/2/2014 11:23:12 PM
^^^you do realize you are talking to one of the most highly trained, and probably the most likely person on tdub to have been in life threatening tactical situations right?
4/2/2014 11:25:27 PM
i definitely wouldn't say that, although much more so than the average bear
4/2/2014 11:27:20 PM
maybe what i've said is overkill, but anyone who has followed your posts on here knows that you have much more knowledge of said skills/situations than most. (am i wrong?)
4/2/2014 11:28:50 PM
no, i'd say that much is fair.
4/2/2014 11:29:59 PM
I'm talking about a robbery, preformed by a crackhead who already gives zero fucksof course that doesn't compare to anything that happens in the militarymy position is that attempting to pull a gun on someone who already has a gun in your face is more than likely not going to work in your favor, especially considering how little you're losing (and what you'll usually get back)
4/2/2014 11:31:38 PM
4/2/2014 11:33:17 PM
