bad thing is hes mostly right nowadays; thats whats its becoming, a web language. Im surprised if they want html, they dont want css and/or php.

Javascript has *always* been primarily a scripting language for the browser; what it has become more recently is a server-side scripting language (Node.js was about the third effort on this front and it succeeded).Anyway this job description makes Douglas Crockford weep.

^^^rofl Java was meant to be the language of the Web but it's shitty at that, passable as a desktop application language, and fairly good on the server; I noticed that the posting in the OP does show a preference for some Java experience (JSP, Java Server Pages)
