The Waze app is pretty good at dodging the PoPo as well.

I drove home from RTP on I-40 less than an hour ago and it was all clear. Which is good b/c I was going 75-80 the whole time. (Teg not Porsche)

I use this a lot, but it doesn't keep them from pulling you if you have to go where they are when they're just looking to pull ppl. I knew they were out but impossible to avoid that many of them when I had to go to an appointment in that part of town. Set the cruise and everything.

It is a good app, though.

no, they are not legal everywhere. They are legal in NC but not in TN, VA and maybe SC. And there is no point in buying them in NC since they aren't used here.

I'm pretty sure that Active laser jammers are illegal in all 50 states. Passive jammers are a different matter though.

there is no such thing as a passive jammer, laser jammers work by sending a bunch of pulses at similar frequencies to confuse the gun, they are also called laser shifters. they work by detecting the frequency coming in, comparing it to a database to determine what gun it is, and then projecting pulses at the appropriate frequency to confuse the gun. they are legal in NC and a ton of states, but not any of the states around us (googled and confirmed, they are illegal for y0willy0 in SC). Since they aren't really used in NC it doesn't make sense to buy them, unless you travel frequently in VA or somewhere (who uses them pretty frequently) and don't mind braking the law.

He pulled me over in the long term parking garage of SF airport on Sunday at 6am while I was trying to find an empty parking spot...while running late for work related trip. Gets out of the cruiser and starts screaming at me that I am "in a possession of illegal laser jammer", then points out to Valentine1 and asks "...and what is this for? Why do you need this? Huh? Huh?". Then tells me how he is certified laser specialist and how I need to tell him ASAP where is my triggering advice for jammers (Switch is under the steering wheel). I just denied having one and he couldn't search because I didn't give him the permission to search my car. So he kept looking from outside peaking in and out getting all antsy. I really think he had OCD..the way he talked and acted.

Anyway, wrote me up for no front plate, expired insurance card (i have insurance of course, just forgot to put the most recent ins card in my wallet), "possession of at least two laser jammers" and then ...this is the best of all, says that my K40 jammer in the rear is blocking characters on the license plate itself. Since K40 is integrated into license plate frame I have to take it off. Then told me to open the hood and asked if car is modified and if I have any more jammers hiding in the engine bay???? WTF!!?

Then he asks me if I'm paying taxes, where is my business based, do I own properties in NC and why do I still have NC driver's license if I live in CA? I just told him that NC DL is still valid and that I live in CA temporarily along with that my business is none of his business. He didn't like that answer so he proceeded to repeat the tax questions again, but this time with much more elevated tone of voice. I just repeated again that is none of his business and asked if there are any problems with my driver's license and registration? He stormed back to the cruiser and came back with a ticket.

Where do they find these pieces of shit? I sincerely hope he runs into some idiot in Oakland. The way he treats people eventually he will run into a fool who has nothing to lose.

I don't mind the ticket at all, because after all I broke the law. What I do mind is his treatment and yelling especially considering I was extremely accommodating at first and very polite. He pretty much got out of the cruiser and started barking.
