7th rounder or free agent.
2/10/2014 12:15:29 AM
3rd rounder or free agent.
2/10/2014 12:17:21 AM
not the 49ers
2/10/2014 1:08:34 AM
oh the irony
2/10/2014 6:42:33 AM
He may fall a bit. But not all 32 teams have to be on board and willing to take him. It only takes one team to draft him based on his workouts.
2/10/2014 8:16:39 AM
If he doesn't get drafted can he claim discrimination?
2/10/2014 8:22:14 AM
who is Michael Sam?
2/10/2014 8:22:52 AM
some of the dumbest shit in sports.
2/10/2014 9:16:06 AM
Meh. I don't think he falls much at all. Yeah a couple teams may be wary of the impact on team chemistry and the media hype that will come along with him, but some team like Seattle or NE will just see value in his skills and draft him. Plus whatever team does draft him will get much love from the press so it'll be like free advertising for that team.
2/10/2014 9:31:18 AM
the only advertising a team needs is winning games.other than that, i'm not sure why this is front page news. he must have just wanted attention.
2/10/2014 9:35:46 AM
Considering I had never heard of him, it's worked so far.
2/10/2014 9:37:25 AM
Dude was an All American and SEC DPOY so it's not like he's Brandon Mitchell trying to get a team to notice that he plays football.
2/10/2014 10:43:09 AM
2/10/2014 10:54:56 AM
2/10/2014 11:06:24 AM
oh coolit only took a few posts for some stupid shit
2/10/2014 11:42:59 AM
Supposedly people/scouts/etc were starting to wonder/gossip so he decided to speak up about it.He didn't just pipe up out of nowhere.
2/10/2014 12:02:54 PM
Any GM that would have taken him before this but now passes on him is either stupid or believes his team is made up of retarded immature rednecks. That said, he'll be a steal for someone in the 5th or 6th, probably somewhere like New England or Seattle or maybe Oakland since they have a history of firsts (first black coach, first Hispanic coach, etc). A team in the biggest football conference in FBS that had a very successful season was obviously fine with this. Like I said, turn him down at your own peril if he's the best on the board.
2/10/2014 12:07:46 PM
2/10/2014 12:15:46 PM
ok, substitute the word "ignoramus." I don't care. you ever considered that assuming that "men will be men" means men will be awful is pretty insulting to a whole lotta people on the whole? more people don't care than you think.
2/10/2014 12:22:35 PM
i didn't say "men will be men". i know that there are plenty of athletes that don't care about his sexuality. however, (unfortunately) i think more care than you think.
2/10/2014 12:30:42 PM
The twist will be that there's been loads of gay sex in every NFL locker room all these years.
2/10/2014 1:06:02 PM
His teammates at Mizzou had no issue at all with sexuality. What's different about the nfl? More close mindedness?
2/10/2014 1:15:23 PM
^how do you know they were all okay with it? was he open about it to them?
2/10/2014 1:22:48 PM
Yes. He told them all before the season started.edsbs on point here
2/10/2014 1:28:24 PM
good on them
2/10/2014 1:30:57 PM
2/10/2014 1:32:31 PM
2/10/2014 1:36:47 PM
they were so distracted by it they went 12-2 and won the Cotton Bowlall while raving about the chemistry the team had
2/10/2014 1:38:33 PM
I like Donte Stallworth's take on the situation: https://twitter.com/DonteStallworth
2/10/2014 1:54:35 PM
2/10/2014 1:58:50 PM
he was the best player on that team so they had to respect him. it will be different when he is a rookie in the nfl. a lot of players have said they would not be in the same locker room with a gay guy. he came out to protect himself from ending up on a team that has that culture.
2/10/2014 5:28:55 PM
It's sad that anonymous NFL execs and front office would let that kind of bigotry dictate their personnel decisions. How is that kind of thinking different from racial prejudices in the locker room? Get over it or get the hell out.
2/10/2014 5:31:50 PM
I imagine he'll get picked on more for having two first names.
2/10/2014 5:32:19 PM
^^incognito?
2/10/2014 5:33:23 PM
?
2/10/2014 5:34:13 PM
2/10/2014 5:43:00 PM
I find the "locker room culture" excuse of discrimination hilarious.Like, "naw man, I can't shower with a gay man, that shit is gross!...but a straight guy? Fuck it, yo. Let's get soapy and have a party!"The entire concept of male camaraderie practically survives off of latent homosexual behavior, anyway. So I don't really see the big fucking deal, here.
2/10/2014 6:00:46 PM
not saying i agree, but most women don't want straight men to shower with them at the gym.
2/10/2014 6:03:15 PM
but a gay man is a man, and not a womanand gay men have always showered with straight menseems like there were no locker room issues in Missouri this past season, probably because they were able to understand that this "argument" is asinine
2/10/2014 6:09:14 PM
Who?
2/10/2014 6:19:42 PM
see with gay marriage i can see why its a big deal. it's because gay men are super promiscuous and people don't want the sanctity of marriage being marred by promiscuity. But most all athletes are promiscuous so i dont see why it'd be a big deal.I bet Philip Jesus Rivers is scared of getting sacked by his sac though
2/10/2014 6:20:49 PM
Wow, 40 posts and nobody has called him a faggot yet. Times have changed on TWW...
2/10/2014 8:40:22 PM
Plenty of women have no problem going to male gynecologists. And that's a much more intimate experience than, say, sharing a locker room with a gay man.
2/10/2014 8:51:28 PM
So tired of hearing about homosexuals all the time in the news. Anytime someone comes out it is "groundbreaking".
2/10/2014 9:24:53 PM
I never heard anyone complain about sharing a locker room with Ray Lewis, maybe they thought he'd murder them too...since he's s murderer. Steelers didn't seem too distracted with Big Ben's affinity for rapes.
2/10/2014 9:35:27 PM
Even though there has never been an openly gay player in the country's most popular professional sports league, this guy coming out right now is not "groundbreaking" because I've seen stories about gay people on my local news having parades and not being able to get married or some other queer shit I didn't consider news at the time either.
2/10/2014 9:45:51 PM
People who wish/think this shouldn't be a big story or important are misguided. It has to be a big deal today if it's going to be no big deal tomorrow. It was a big deal when Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic, but now thousands of people do it every day.
2/10/2014 10:16:26 PM
2/10/2014 10:33:15 PM
Won't fall any. The pack pride thread on this is quaint
2/10/2014 11:38:51 PM
I wouldn't draft him just cause he has 2 first names
2/11/2014 4:36:05 PM
