Is there anything you can do to fix scratched lenses? I got a pair of Ray Bans, that have had scratches on them already. A recent millimeter nick in the front of the lense is right in my direct field of view and is driving me crazy.

I don't care about the outside appearance of it as it's barely noticeable but when light hits my glasses it causes a noticeable glare.

Any recommendations?

I've seen stuff online ranging from buffing them with pledge, to a baking soda/water mixture, and even using ash or peanut butter.

are they polarized because some of that stuff can ruin your lens

I saw that you can send them into Ray Ban and they will fix them. They charge a $12.50 flat fee plus and replacement materials. Just not sure after paying to replace the lense if i'd be better of just buying new lenses.

On a similar note I got a pair of revo's with a sheared screw so one of the arms has fallen off but can find anything online about what size screw to replace it with. I'd imagine it'd be some standard size.

^Food Lion and probably other grocery stores sell a sunglass spare screw kit w/ screwdrivers for like $2. Usually see them near the checkout area.

^^are the glasses new? I've sent my Costas back 3-4 times for lens repair. The most recent time, last fall. No warranty, and they were unrepairable. Replacement pair of glasses via the repair center was still a lot less than buying new retail.

As far as the scratched lenses go, there really isn't anything you can do to buff them out. If the frames are in good shape I would recommend just getting new lenses. Cost would probably be between $60-$80 dollars for polarized lenses as opposed to $125-$200 for a whole new pair. As far as a replacement screw for your other pair, stop into any eye doctors office or place where they sell rx glasses and they will replace the screw and mount it for you free of charge.

Buy replacement lenses on eBay and just pop them in.

What frames? I have a couple pair of Ray Ban and Maui Jim lenses that have never been used because I get prescription lenses in my glasses.

BTW...I've had to ask for the factory lenses every time except for once when I ordered RB frames without the lenses. If you're paying for them you should make sure you get them. You might need them one day if you get corrective surgery or if you just want to pop them in and sell the sunglasses.
