I DON'T KNOW ARE THEY?!?!?!

for the record, Christie is not a republican. He may say he is, but I don't buy it.
1/8/2014 5:28:12 PM
pretty sure there was a big R next to his name on the ballot both times he was electedand his platform tends to mirror the Republican platform
1/8/2014 5:47:56 PM
he caught commie-socialism when he hugged Obama, not a republican
1/8/2014 5:53:32 PM
that is legitimately the only reason they've turned on himdude was gonna be their savior before that
1/8/2014 5:55:28 PM
he doesn't sufficiently hate the gays?
1/8/2014 5:58:51 PM
It's too early to be a knockout blow unless something really bad turns up. He'll still be a front runner in 2 years time.
1/8/2014 9:14:35 PM

Yankee? Talks funny?Not a republican
1/8/2014 10:13:04 PM
1/8/2014 10:26:10 PM
He made a statement, apparently going with the plausible deniability defense.
1/9/2014 1:31:02 AM
Ahh yes, Reagan's greatest legacy.
1/9/2014 3:52:55 AM
Hey, I'm going to say about him the same thing I've said about Obama. If it was one of Christie's top staffers, he should've known something. Can't keep claiming you don't know anything about the ship you're running. But realistically, while he's claiming he didn't know, I'm pretty sure he was like "hehehe...whatever you think"
1/9/2014 8:56:56 AM
This is nothing. Just some crap the media dug up when they were bored.
1/9/2014 9:33:29 AM
Yep nothing to see here, move along. Just ask Howard Dean!
1/9/2014 9:47:16 AM
are you saying you don't believe the story? or that purposely causing massive traffic jams for revenge isn't a a big deal?
1/9/2014 9:47:29 AM
I've also heard that there have been medical emergencies that were delayed due to the closings...that could be a big deal. These assholes might have blood on their hands by playing politics.
1/9/2014 10:00:14 AM
Just came here to say that Christie is what R's generally are near large population centers. The bible thumping crazies would never win elections outside the Deep South and highly rural areas.[Edited on January 9, 2014 at 10:38 AM. Reason : Who cares? We should get back to focusing on Benghazi and the Saudi boston bomber]
1/9/2014 10:36:58 AM
He's on live right now; pretty fantastic apology. He sounds exactly like a great boss should sound. His chief of staff and campaign manager are toast-
1/9/2014 11:45:00 AM
Its nice to see that at least someone gets terminated for wrongdoing, unlike some other administrations...
1/9/2014 11:50:02 AM
(it's posts like that that cause some people not to take you seriously)
1/9/2014 12:17:55 PM
Yea, I know.I said that b/c personally I think the IRS thing should've been handled differently. Nobody lost their jobs that I'm aware of.
1/9/2014 12:48:13 PM
^ lol, probably because you don't seek out truth, but instead believe the misinformation force fed to you by conservative news organizations.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/15/obama-irs-scandal_n_3281673.html
1/9/2014 1:02:42 PM
Not a fan of Christie, but I think he comes out of this looking better, at least for a future presidential run. It makes it seem like he's willing to crack down on incompetence in his own administration, in contrast to the Obama administration. James Clapper, as an example, has been entirely incompetent and actually lied to Congress, but he's still in a job.
1/9/2014 1:13:57 PM
I think its cute when people think that the NSA works for or under anyone.
1/9/2014 1:53:00 PM
They should be answering to someone. Whether they are or not, that is the question that needs answering.
1/9/2014 1:57:46 PM
They aren't, and haven't been for longer than any of us have been alive.
1/9/2014 2:09:22 PM
Can you imagine how much dirt the NSA has on every politician? It's no wonder no one speaks out against them.
1/9/2014 3:58:09 PM
^^ is that true? Bush and Cheney presided over a huge expansion of the NSA's power and the development of the Internet. They could have been out of control for a while now but I'm just asking. Also a legitimate reason that Obama doesn't fire people is because he would never get a new person appointed. But who can blame republicans for crippling his administration and then criticizing him for how inefficient it is. That's just politics as usual
1/9/2014 5:12:52 PM
Well, they have to get their money from somewhere. It just doesn't come from the NSA money tree. Whoever is funding them is who they have to answer to, at least to a degree.
1/9/2014 6:30:02 PM
Fat President's gonna be just fine.
1/9/2014 6:59:56 PM
^^ It's a lot easier to move money around when it's floating around in a monolith like the Department of Homeland Security.

Looks like de Blasio is getting involved nowhttp://politicker.com/2014/01/de-blasio-says-christies-bridge-scandal-raises-bigger-questions-about-his-leadership/

I think its fairly obvious Christie was not involved. If he was, especially after how he has humiliated his aides in public, someone will come forward with evidence to tie him to this. Unless I have missed something, he hasn't. This is just the left (and the conservative right) trying to dump some dirt on him. Not concerned about this at all.
1/10/2014 10:40:12 AM
1/10/2014 10:46:27 AM
^I'm sure you feel the same way when Obama says he wasn't involved or wasn't aware ot certain things?I'm not saying Christie was or wasn't involved, I'm just saying we have no way of knowing, and I don't think this is just a case of the "leftist media" simply digging up dirt to dump on him.
1/10/2014 10:47:27 AM
The things he is referring to with regards to Obama are a tad more important than bridge lane closures.See:http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304347904579310832305028924Also (as hes already mentioned) when Christie staffers run amok they get squished; with Obama that isn't so (usually). Obviously they are both at fault for letting their underlings put them in these situations, but it's refreshing to see one of them handle it correctly.
1/10/2014 10:59:53 AM
The situations are similar. I don't let Obama off the hook, nor do I let Christie. The only difference here is that Christie made an example of somebody. Whether each man was actually duplicitous in their respective situations is yet to be seen.
1/10/2014 11:06:21 AM
I think it's fair to say that between 2000-2008 was the greatest expansion of the internet culturally and technically with the massive growth of broadband and smartphones.
1/10/2014 12:37:51 PM
The Clapper analogy was a bad one. The point is, NSA is untouchable. They don't have to play by the same rules as Christie's top staffers, who are by comparison, mere pawns. Plus Christie is establishment enough that he wouldn't even consider reigning in their powers or challenging their right to blanket data collection were he in the position to do so as president. This will be a temporary hit to his numbers but the election is far enough away that it he will bounce back. People and their short attention spans.

How did this thread get so off topic? Clapper is just a figurehead for the NSA so his firing wouldn't mean doodlysquat.Back to bridgegate. More documents are supposed to be coming out later today. If he honestly has no involvement, he's good, IMHO. If however he's lying about any of his involvement, then his career could be down the crapper.
