Schools down here (FL) are closed completely due to temperature, but it makes a bit more sense. Most kids down here don't have the clothing to deal with 20 degree weather.

Nerp. I spent every morning waiting with the rest of the teeth chatterers for that damn bus. Middle school sucked especially since we lived way out near Wake Forest and went to Ligon. Had to be at the stop by 6, or you'd miss it. We were also the first stop on an hour long route, so once you were on the bus it was still freezing.

We'd get lucky if either our parents had an early meeting and could drop us at the stop on the way to work, or a friend's parent decided to let them sit in an idle car and invited you to join.

All the kids in our neighborhood do the same thing, there's no warm idling car to sit in. The only difference is the grade schoolers, whose parents stand with them at the stop, but still no cars.
