i wouldn't recommend a sound bar w/o a sub considering they make plenty with wireless subs. it's going to sound a lot like your tv without one. i'm a fan of the sony sound bars .mine has hdmi switching and sounds as good if not better than my $800 Yamaha sound projector

My Dad got a Sony bar w wireless sub. It's the $200ish one. Works well and has good reviews. It's a long way from audiophile quality, but a big jump from TV speakers and the sub adds a lot of depth.

i've had my eye on the Sony CT550 for a year now, but I have never pulled the trigger.

I bought the Sony HT-CT150 a year ago and love it.Bought one for my folks this Christmas via Amazon.

Got this same one ^/^^^ (I believe), it's pretty damn good for $200.

Yes. I had the Sony HT-CT150. Great bang for buck improvement.http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater-systems/sony-ht-ct150/4505-6740_7-34073592.html[Edited on January 6, 2014 at 7:54 PM. Reason : .]

This is the one my Dad got i mentioned above:http://store.sony.com/soundbar-wireless-subwoofer-zid27-HTCT260H/cat-27-catid-All-Sound-Bars?_t=pfm%3DcategoryIt was on sale for $199 before xmas. Its nice because the receiver is in the sound bar instead of the sub so you can really hide the wireless sub since there is nothing attached to it (besides the power plug) and you don't have to aim the remote at it.

I got the vizio deep bass sound bar, and it sounds awesome. Very impressed so far. I am thinking of getting another one for our other TV.

Check out the yamaha sound bars with the shit-tons of independent speakers that tune themselves to the room they're placed in.

^^ If my HDMi ports are full with no audio out, what do you recommend output wise?
1/8/2014 10:55:21 AM
I recommend you spend the money on a better tv since a soundbar with multiple optical ins or hdmi pass through is going to be more expensive than a tv with these features

I use the optical out from the tv as the input into my soundbarhmmm, just saw you don't have optical out on your TV. Does your TV have a digital coax output? Otherwise I guess the only other option is stereo out or RCA out.(here is the URL for the sound bar I bought, $88 was definitely worth the money - http://tinyurl.com/o3mbvz7)[Edited on January 8, 2014 at 11:45 AM. looking for a 2.1 (or better) system with bluetooth, coax-in, and optical-in...if it has an FM tuner, that would be perfect
6/23/2014 9:23:25 AM
actually, the philips HTL3110B/F7 for $80 looks promising: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-HTL3110B-F7-Soundbar-Speaker/dp/B00I8S83JGwireless subbluetoothNFCHDMI ARCdigital coax-inoptical-inUSB (both for audio and charging, apparently)AUX-ini don't know why they don't include FM tuners with more of these systems, as it seems that they're meant to be a replacement for receivers...but at this price and feature set, i can probably deal with running the radio through my phone via USB or bluetooth [Edited on June 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Reason : actually, only $80 from amazon after tax]

Here is my dilemma. We have this tv: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN32EH4003FXZA which has NO audio outputs, but has two HDMI inputs and two RCA inputs. What I want to know is if I can use this soundbar http://store.sony.com/300w-2.1-sound-bar-w-wireless-subwoofer-zid27-HTCT370/cat-27-catid-All-Sound-Bars;pgid=C.BQiXu9ulRSRpsMMKrlYa690000auNfdFdG;sid=gDdAADr2zVIfAGlLPAo-BKL8SQwOxVW6xUaQK2L5 utilizing the passthrough function by hooking up the cable and PS3 into the soundbar HDMI inputs and connect the soundbar output into the tv HDMI input. Am I reading that functionality correctly?tl;dr - Can I hook this up cable/ps3 (HDMI) --> soundbar input (HDMI) --> soundbar output (HDMI) --> tv input (HDMI)
7/9/2014 6:12:12 PM
^ Yes. That's why it has 3 inputs and 1 output. You chose your source on the sound bar, and it controls the signal to the TV.
7/9/2014 9:05:31 PM
Thank you.Is it okay that the tv's HDMI inputs aren't ARC?
7/10/2014 12:21:19 PM
That's only useful if you want audio to go from the tv to the speaker system (from an antenna, smart tv app, etc...). As long as you sources are coming from elsewhere it doesn't matter. Since you are using cable box / game console your good.

Thank you very, very much!
