How many of you people actually drink beer (or any other alcoholic beverage) during a lunch break at work?
12/21/2013 1:10:47 PM
I could get away with it, but I don't drink
12/21/2013 1:14:11 PM
I don't everyday, but I do some days
12/21/2013 1:14:39 PM
I did it quite a bit until my current job because we work through lunch here.

I do not and could not. I get so sleepy. I worked for a mom who always offered me a glass of wine if was eating a meal with them. I thought that was pretty odd. Here, babysitter, lower your inhibitions while taking care of my infant and toddler.[Edited on December 21, 2013 at 1:39 PM. Reason : .]

I have sometimes. When you ride a bus to/from work and you don't have to operate a vehicle, its pretty easy to do.My record is 4 Miller Lite's at Bandidos one day. That was a fun afternoon.

No, I'm from the South. Instead of lunch beer, we secret-drink mouth wash at our desks.

I drink a beer at lunch almost every day, especially during the work week. That being said, it's usually only one. But I have a job that let's me do that. I would feel like an ungrateful ass if I didn't, knowing less fortunate professionals are out there forced to drink just water and soda during their lunches. It's horrible.

When I worked at State I definitely did but I never went to lunch with coworkers. At NIEHS we would have staff lunches out at Page Road Grill but nobody drank so I assumed it was frowned upon.

maybe 4-5 times in the past couple yearsmargaritas and cocktails at a mexican place and a ruby tuesday in Alexandria

My boss goes with us sometimes and has given us full permission to drink at lunch, even if he doesn't do it personally (he'll drink with us after work though). Most I have had in front of him is two at Carolina Brewery though.

drive a company vehicle so would be fired with a quickness. it would just make me sleepy and/or wishing i could drink more than 1 if i did so dont really want to anyways

Beer at lunch would be a great country song.

Whiskey for my lunch, beer for my breakfast.

i work in an industrial environment. too much stuff out there that'll kill me. it's against company policy, but i've never had a desire to anyway. if i feel like i need a drink that bad, i'll just cut out early.
12/21/2013 9:39:57 PM
^Its kinda fun on occasion. I am fine with waiting till dinner to have one while I eat unless its just been a shit morning.
12/21/2013 9:44:49 PM
yeah, don't get me wrong, if i worked in an office all day, i'd definitely have 1 or 2 at lunch.
12/21/2013 9:46:35 PM
When cinco de mayo falls on a work day, I make it count. Otherwise, I don't really, by choice.
12/22/2013 6:50:27 AM
I do on occasion and during March Madness
12/22/2013 1:32:40 PM
Nah. When I worked at NCSU I always worried that someone would see me (it's one of those things that is cool for professors but frowned upon for staff). Definitely not at my current job as that's a fireable offense.
12/22/2013 2:10:35 PM
I could. But I never have. Just don't really have much desire to.
12/22/2013 2:52:23 PM
I can't. There's some days I'd love to, though.
12/22/2013 6:56:18 PM
There was nothing in the handbook at my old company to say we were prohibited from light drinking during lunch, but whenever a group would go out to a Mexican restaurant and get offered margaritas, or any other situation where drinking came up, everyone was like, "Oh, I'd love to, but [owner of company] would have our heads."I never figured out if people were just scared of him, or if something happened before I started working there, or what. I had a beer at lunch a few times. And when NCSUHippie left I brought margaritas for us and another co-worker.

At my last company drinking was never frowned upon, especially since the company founder was a crazy nut (in the good way). This all ended when he retired, which was about 4 months after I started. Beer at lunch, a celebratory office drink after big deadlines, happy hour...that all ended when he left. Times were tight and while the company did everything they could to hold on to employees, everyone knew there was a list of who-to-fire-first somewhere. The last thing anyone wanted was to be labelled a lush. Now I'm jobless, so I drink whenever I want.
12/22/2013 7:25:58 PM
I'm a fan.
12/22/2013 7:49:01 PM
I probably could, but I haven't at my current jobPlace I worked at before I did on occasion. Actually had a whole bucket once...made for an interesting last couple hours of work
12/24/2013 9:41:41 AM
i would get ratted out.
12/24/2013 9:55:27 AM
