Wikipedia says 1991

Wendy's also used to have a buffet called a SuperBar.

http://www.one-quest.com/blog/whatever-happened-to-the-wendys-superbar/

Quote :
"The SuperBar was an unholy bastard of random food that you would not normally associate with Wendy’s. It was predominately a salad bar, with your standard salad bar fixings. But in addition to the salad station, which they called the ‘Garden Spot’, there was also a Pasta Station (creatively called ‘Pasta Pasta’) and a Mexican Station (‘Mexican Fiesta’). ‘Pasta Pasta’ was stocked with both rotini and spagetti pastas, and both a tomato and alfredo sauce, and you could load up on the garlic bread sticks. ‘Mexican Fiesta’ was a taco bar with refried beans, rice, and taco meat (which was basically just the overcooked hamburger meat they didn’t use in the chili), and you could choose between crunchy tacos, or they had one of those little tortilla warmer things filled up for making soft tacos. But the best part was by far the little dessert part, which was kinda shoved at the end of the ‘Garden Spot’, they always had two troughs full of chocolate and vanilla pudding."

Wendy's still had the salad/taco bar thing when I had a drivers license, because I used to go there with my friends after church every week and I was the one driving. (I never got the salad/taco bar personally because I thought it was sketchy, but it was there)

I remember both; the SuperBar was dank, but the McPizza was as bad as you probably imagine it being. also back in the early 90s, the KFC in Greensboro had a buffet, and the one in Asheboro sold liver & gizzard meals (which my grandfather loved )

We used to get buckets of fried chicken from Hardees.

Interesting, from Wikipedia:

Quote :
"Hardee's also started a chain of restaurants called "Yogi Bear's Fried Chicken" in the Southeast in 1968. The Hartsville, SC, location is still open and prospering."

this might be an urban legend...but I heard the reason this venture failed was that the pizza-boxes wouldn't fit through the drive-through window. So the cashiers had to tilt them, and all the pizza would slide to one side of the box and get messy and destroyed.

I loved the Chocolate Pudding at Wendys as a kid.

I hated it because it didn't have a burger fries which is what I really wanted.

KFC bar was still going on in the 2007 time. They need wedges on that thing.

KFC in Clinton still has the buffet. Including gizzards and livers on the buffet.

Never had Hardee's fried chicken but I know the local one here has it. Can you order like a 2 piece meal, or you have to get a whole bucket?

I saw something awhile back that said all Hardee's that had been Skat Thru's still sell chicken, but I dont know how accurate that is.

Nah their nuggets aren't that good. Mickey Dee's chicken nuggets are where it's at. But I'm glad you reminded me of nuggets.

There used to be Roy Rogers restaurants in the southeast too, or at least in Greensboro. There was one on W. Market near the intersection with Holden until around 1990.

Hardee's burgers and fries were terrible before the Carl's Jr. buyout/merger, but some of the other stuff wasn't half bad.

I remember the Wendy's SuperBar.

On a related note, We stopped at a Bojangles in Florence SC back in 2001 that had a buffet. Awesome concept, but the food looked disgusting.

the weird thing is that there are burger joints around, but i guess with McDonald's trying to replicate the same experience at every restaurant, they gotta cater to the common denominator

Wendy's bar was generally disgusting. There would always be some fucking salad dressing splattered in the pudding, or vice versa.

I don't remember McDonald's pizza, but I do remember when Hardee's used to have a pizza pocket type thing. I seem to recall enjoying it, but that was in the early 90's.
