Look I hate to be an asshole about this, but nothing posted so far here is chill...especially not some fucking The Voice video.

Quote :
"Chill-out music (sometimes also chillout, chill out, or simply chill) is an umbrella term for several styles of electronic music characterized by their mellow style and mid-tempo beats — "chill" being derived from a slang injunction to "relax."
Chill out music emerged in the early and mid-1990s in "chill rooms" at dance clubs, where relaxing music was played to allow dancers a chance to "chill out" from the more emphatic and fast-tempo music played on the main dance floor.
The genres associated with chill-out are mostly ambient, trip-hop, nu jazz, ambient house, New Age and other sub-genres of downtempo. Sometimes the easy listening sub-genre lounge is considered to belong to the chill-out collection as well. Chill out as a musical genre or description is synonymous with the more recently popularized terms "smooth electronica" and "soft techno" and is a loose genre of music blurring into several other very distinct styles of electronic and lo-fi music."

OP link: scanned through it very briefly...mostly garbage, maybe chill to some extent, but not really

adultswim's link: maybe kinda chill but terrible, and way too much fast synth drums to qualify as chill

bottombaby's link: some dumb girl singing...but it is fairly chill

conclusion: synapse is correct, though i still disagree with using text to define what's chill to the ear, or saying "chill" music has to fit some genre definition

also, double post. but if you want a couple youtube channels here is what i recommend.

http://www.youtube.com/onechilledpanda

http://www.youtube.com/mrsuicidesheep

same guy runs both. he has a lot of playlists and also some very good extended mixes such as..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPu9vdrP4LI&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PL75C7F02E0C4EA3E0

The Panda channel is considered the slower, more ambient "chill" channel. but mrsuicidesheep is his main channel and he still offers a lot of "chill" offerings on it, like the third link

but from your earlier post

not trying to argue, because it's pointless. What's considered chill by definition, and by the listener will always be different. There are a lot of sub genres that I find much more relaxing and give me a sense of chill that others may not even consider.

you didn't bold the most important words there

I can't argue with that. I lean more towards chillstep and some trance, which many would not consider pure chill.

Spotify has put together some pretty decent playlists as well under what they call "moods". They don't offer the blend and fade between tracks like a mixed playlist or a radio station may, but they are still very well done. i'll pull them back up later and list a few.

also, really enjoyed the Blackmill track you linked. good stuff.

^ Thanks I really like them too. Think I might start seeking chillstep out individually instead of just hearing a random track or two on a more general chill station.

If you come across any standout videos/playlists/stations post them here plz: message_topic.aspx?topic=640383

http://www.di.fm also has a chill out channel, and other related channels.

Just checked now, they have

Chillout
Chillout dreams
Chillstep
Chillhop
Vocal chillout
Psychill

And many others in the lounge category, but the ones I listed are the ones with chill in the name.
