The delivery girl was clearly not impressed.]
12/5/2013 1:51:34 PM
Oh good, this thread should be fun.
12/5/2013 1:52:52 PM
Your tip is too small.
12/5/2013 1:52:54 PM
did she do that face thing or something?
12/5/2013 1:53:05 PM
That was your penis not your tip
12/5/2013 1:53:16 PM
I get a $7.50 order maybe once or twice a week. I round it up to $9.
12/5/2013 1:54:56 PM
Is there a delivery charge?
12/5/2013 1:58:28 PM
^ 51 cents
12/5/2013 2:00:52 PM
and I even gave cash (while paying for the food with CC)!!! not impressed.
12/5/2013 2:01:54 PM
Maybe she wanted more.
12/5/2013 2:03:18 PM
It didn't appear that way
12/5/2013 2:10:42 PM
$2 is fine. When I delivered for Jimmy John's one of the frequent customers wouldn't tip and would always say they "needed money for bus fare". Bitch why are you paying $9 for a sandwich and chips if you are broke
12/5/2013 2:14:03 PM
This just made me order the Gargantuan w/ jalapeno chips and I tipped $2.50.... Now, I wait.
12/5/2013 2:19:11 PM
Maybe she just didn't want to give you her money
12/5/2013 2:26:27 PM
I assume these delivery people get paid at least minimum wage right? Also do they have to pay for the gas to truck a $7 sandwhich half way across town. If so, why the fuck would you become a JJ delivery person?
12/5/2013 3:13:07 PM
They bike to my office
12/5/2013 3:16:31 PM
If they get to my place in less than 10 minutes, $5 tip. If not, 3-4.
12/5/2013 3:20:12 PM
If delivery works anything like pizza delivery does, the delivery fee goes to the driver to cover "vehicle use & gas". at least thats how it worked when i delivered back about 7 years ago.
12/5/2013 4:26:04 PM
I wish I was in the JJ delivery zone
12/5/2013 4:30:08 PM
Luckily Jimmy Johns is across the street from me, so no need to worry about delivery
12/5/2013 4:32:57 PM
I recently started working delivery at JJ, and from what I've seen so far, $2 is good, especially if it's just a sandwich or combo ($5-$10 order). If you're giving less than a dollar on an order, you're an asshole, and if you're giving less than $5 on a $50 order, you're an asshole.
12/5/2013 4:51:37 PM
I pay with credit cards 99% of the time.
12/5/2013 5:10:22 PM
I pay with 190% alcohol cabnits
12/5/2013 5:13:39 PM
Other hilarious thing, past few times and many future instances, when going out with friends, I will pay mostly in wads of small bills. There is probably more cash in volume in my wallet than there ever has been.
12/5/2013 8:11:22 PM
You ever get paid in bong hits?
12/5/2013 8:35:45 PM
Haven't yet, but I've also only delivered to business so far, and again, started like 4 days ago
12/5/2013 10:18:46 PM
I would not ever pay to have an already overpriced sub delivered to my residence or business. No offense, yuffie_chan. Best of luck with your wages.[Edited on December 5, 2013 at 10:37 PM. Reason : k]
12/5/2013 10:35:23 PM
Completely understandable. JJ subs are actually pretty cheap relative to other subs, the normal subs are 4.75, and from what I've seen, the delivery fee is basically the rest of the dollar that tax doesn't take up (i.e. your total is 5.75).Fortunately, there are enough people that do that the JJ I work at is understaffed, which was how I got the job I mean I got because I'm awesome
12/5/2013 10:37:47 PM
You ever get paid in bong hits.....onnn weeeed?
12/5/2013 10:40:22 PM
I tend to avoid situations with ambiguous tipping customs.
12/5/2013 10:43:01 PM
I've always viewed that if there is a delivery fee then its something your paying for and not a courtesy and shouldn't get a tip. Not saying I've never tipped but depends on the situation and the delivery fee.
12/5/2013 10:44:49 PM
My tip reflects my gratitude for their service rather than an ambiguous percentage of how much I've spent.[Edited on December 6, 2013 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]
12/6/2013 1:18:44 AM
if you had paid with a $2 bill, maybe she would have thought it was cool and left happy. people love two dollar bills.
12/6/2013 1:42:22 AM
^Strippers sure do
12/6/2013 6:09:57 AM
What about at Sonic? I never can figure that out. I tip a buck to the guy that walks or skates 12 feet from the kitchen to bring me my jr. burgers but I don't have the first clue as to whether thats about right, no tip is required, or I am stiffing the guy.
12/6/2013 6:43:43 AM
I worked at Sonic through high school and part of college. Tipping is expected, but I wouldn't tip a carhop who didn't at least come out to check on you once after bringing your food out.If you watch what they're doing inside, most carhops do the expediting, take orders over the speaker, prepare drinks, and work the ice cream station. I honestly think they work pretty hard considering a lot of them do it all on inline skates.
12/6/2013 7:15:31 AM
12/6/2013 7:21:59 AM
I would usually order two sandwiches and a drink and throw on a cookie or two maybe some chips to get it close to 15 then give them a 20. I no longer live near a JJ though which makes me sad
12/6/2013 8:23:16 AM
We tip at Sonic if they skate or they check on us.
12/6/2013 8:30:34 AM
I have ordered from JJ twice, they took forever both times, and delivery fee = no tip, maybe if they got there like the commercial suggested, but they don't
12/6/2013 10:57:06 AM
one time my house caught on fire and so i called Jimmy Johns to come put it out. they didn't. no tip.
12/6/2013 11:20:39 AM
^ they deliver to my work in like 15 minutes. pretty impressive.I'm starting to think yuffie_chan is the "delivery girl" mentioned in the OP...
12/6/2013 11:40:20 AM
I get my Sammy within five minutes...it's ridiculous. I'm more impressed with the sandwich makers than the delivery guys since the JJ is so close.
12/6/2013 11:45:13 AM
12/6/2013 11:49:52 AM
If I'm gonna add more than 2 bucks to my Jimmy Johns order I'd rather just drive to Jersey Mikes[Edited on December 6, 2013 at 12:52 PM. Reason : .]
12/6/2013 12:50:44 PM
Jimmy Johns subs suck. Turrrable.
12/6/2013 12:51:26 PM
If Jimmy John's "sucks," I can't even describe how bad Subway must be in actual words.
12/6/2013 12:58:02 PM
subway subs are much better than jimmy johns. i've never had a good sub at jimmy johns, but i always feel like i get my money's worth at subway. it's not gourmet but it is consistently good.
12/6/2013 1:04:18 PM
As if we needed further confirmation that you're completely insane.
12/6/2013 1:07:01 PM
Yeah JJ has defintely replaced subway as my budget sandwich place. Now that we're here, got a question. My boys got into a drunk argument, as most arguments start, as to what makes a sandwich:The meat or the breadI say bread. Now you go.
