Still no word on cause of death. Officer reported a "loud noise". If they failed to search the kid and he offed himself why don't they just say so?

Quote :
"Duncan took Huerta to police headquarters and was parking when he heard gunshots, Lopez said.

"Officer Duncan jumped from the vehicle for fear of being shot," he said. "The patrol vehicle rolled through the parking lot of headquarters and came to rest against another parked vehicle."

Huerta was slumped over in the back seat with his hands still cuffed behind him, Lopez said, and a handgun was found in the floorboard of the patrol car."

That takes a lot of talent.

So DPD's narrative is he shot himself?

How the hell could he have got a gun into the back of that car anyway? They think people are going to believe the officer didn't frisk him [or frisk him well enough] and the kid was able to get a gun in the car?

Not only get a gun that wasnt on the DPD, but also pull it out of his pocket or wherever he was hiding it AFTER he had been searched...slump over and then have good enough aim to shoot himself in the head.

I do not buy it at all.

If I was the family I would get all the information, get the autopsy report and a ballistics expert to look at it as far as trajectory etc.

This reeks of bullshit.

The kid was being brought in for running away or something, it's conceivable he wasn't searched properly and was depressed and killed himself.

Seems unlikely, but considering they supposedly weren't arresting him for drugs or violence, why kill the kid?

I bet the officer didn't conduct a search because he was trying not to make the kid feel like a criminal.

My guess is that he wasn't searched properly and shot himself trying to remove/hide the gun. I just don't see anyone thinking they can accurately shoot themselves from that position, but I can see someone accidentally pulling the trigger while the gun was in an awkward position. Total guess at this point though.
