correct
9/22/2013 3:59:55 PM
What's to discuss?
9/22/2013 4:00:40 PM
Only if it's well-done.
9/22/2013 4:04:14 PM
Well done, otherwise it needs more time on the grill.Heinz 57 wakes up the flavor.
9/22/2013 4:05:14 PM
^^I hope you're saying if the steak is well done, it could use some condimentCause if a steak is medium rare, which is the only way a steak should be cooked and consumed, it doesn't need anything[Edited on September 22, 2013 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]
9/22/2013 4:07:48 PM
needs at least salt and pepperI'm not a fucking savage
9/22/2013 4:08:31 PM
Besides, why make a steak when you can just through up some ground beef and make burgers.
9/22/2013 4:09:50 PM
Still needs salt and pepper.Or at the very least salt. Hard to get a good crust with no salt.
9/22/2013 4:11:30 PM
ok you savages, eat your bloody steak. Blood is disgusting and does not give meat flavor. WTF is wrong with you people. I like my t-bone WELL DONE smothered in onions and peppers, with some heiz 57 to dip it in.
9/22/2013 4:12:14 PM
not even cooking.
9/22/2013 4:14:11 PM
But salt pulls the moisture out of the steak! But you cant cook a steak properly without a 500* cast-iron skillet But you have to sear the steak first to seal the juices in But you have to let the steak warm to room temperature BEFORE you put the salt on
9/22/2013 4:14:57 PM
needs mayonnaiseamirite justinh?
9/22/2013 4:15:11 PM
Just salt or salted butter.
9/22/2013 4:45:21 PM
9/22/2013 4:52:49 PM
I don't buy steaks to taste carbon, you well-done people.
9/22/2013 5:10:09 PM
What's to discuss?I mean, I'll do au poivre or something every once in a while, but it doesn't NEED it. A1 and Heinz 57 are fucking shameful, and if you put them on a steak, you should just save your money and eat some Wonder Bread with Jif on it instead.[Edited on September 22, 2013 at 5:20 PM. the best steaks are cooked NOT on a grill
9/22/2013 6:39:43 PM
Depends on the cut

I don't mind getting new/different ideas for cooking, though nothing in here so far is new/different, but some of y'all are way up on your soap boxes about steak. Steak. A friggin steak.
9/22/2013 6:44:03 PM
Salt, pepper. Medium rare any which way you want to cook it is perfect.
9/22/2013 6:46:24 PM
i found my favorite way to cook a thick filet is:very lightly oil/saltpepper and sear on all sides using a hot cast iron skillet..15-20 seconds per sidethen i put that in the oven on a drip tray and broil for ~15mintastes better than any other method ive tried so far[Edited on September 22, 2013 at 6:50 PM. ^^if you put anything other than salt and pepper on a steak you have terrible taste in everything[Edited on September 22, 2013 at 6:50 PM. Reason : ]

THE WAY YOU PREFER YOUR FOOD IS INCORRECT
9/22/2013 6:58:51 PM
It doesn't need anything, true. But I'm trying to bring back steak butters, even on good steaks.
9/22/2013 7:00:51 PM
It's kinda sad how hard BlackJesus is trying to troll, and nobody will pay him a lick of attention.I'll pay some attention to you little guy.
9/22/2013 7:01:48 PM
Salted butter can be great, but most cooks and restaurants tend to drown the steak in it and I feel like I'm getting the runs before I even finish the meal.

We raise grass-fed beef so if you cook it quickly over a hot flame it does not turn out as well. I like to put a little garlic, salt, and pepper on it and cook it over a low charcoal fire to about medium rare. I also like a little horseradish on beef after it is cooked. Unless is it something like stew beef that is tough and cooked in liquid, you can cook the flavor right out of a piece of beef. Please, folks, if you are going to cook a steak to death, make sure it's a cheap one. Once you reduce cattle flesh to charred remains, the quality of the original steak won't matter much.

I don't think the title of this thread is necessarily dissing on salt, pepper or butter...or even marinadesI think its mostly referring to people that think its a necessity to use your fork and knife to cut a bite of steak off and dip it in heinz 57 / a1 / ketchup / something...or pour a bunch of steak sauce on it...which isn't necessaryalthough i will say if its some shitty steak from a half ass restaurant or something burnt to a crisp, sure, add something for flavorbut if you order a good steak from a Ruths Chris / Mortons / etc, you should try it without condiments...you're gonna like the way you look it tastes...i guarantee it
9/22/2013 10:56:17 PM
unsalted meat is not appetizing
9/22/2013 11:03:16 PM
i usually just give my steak some salt, pepper, and a good reverse sear til i get medium rare by the thermapen
9/22/2013 11:14:05 PM
All meat requires ketchup.

I just microwaved a perfectly prepared NY strip on high for several minutes. So, yeah, I'm fucking retarded, and my whole day is ruined.
9/26/2013 6:08:37 PM
No?
9/26/2013 6:10:27 PM
I shoulda had it cold.
9/26/2013 6:13:52 PM
Who would've thunk the President of the TWW LOL Patrol would microwave a NY Strip
9/26/2013 6:14:13 PM
Wait. You microwaved a raw steak?
9/26/2013 6:27:35 PM
^^AHAHAHA ^No, it was already cooked. I just wanted a chunk of hot, juicy steak right quick. So I popped it in the microwave and went to switch the laundry.
9/26/2013 6:30:19 PM
I have microwaved a cooked steak before as well when I didnt feel like doing it in a pan.But several minutes? It just needs a minute.
9/26/2013 8:32:31 PM
you should have boiled it in milk
