are terrible. The rubber gets hard over time. When it drizzles my car turns into a top fuel dragster. Hankooks coming this week. And yes I have plenty of tread.

I went with Hankook v12's hopefully its better than what I have now. I went out earlier and forgot it was drizzling. Did a burnout right through a intersection.

^^ that's all performance tires, at least really high-performance stuff. I don't think I've had tires last more than 10k miles on a sports car over the last 5 years, other than my Conti Extremecontact DWS on my Corvette (which are a dedicated daily driving set and a step or two down the performance ladder...I bought another set of wheels to mount R-comps on had I wanted to).

I ran a set or two of Falken Azenis on an Evo IX back around 2008. They were good, at least at the time, especially considering how much they cost.

Also, I've noticed the compound deteriorating to the point of offering damn near no traction (wet OR dry) on other extreme-performance type tires, even Pilot Sports (which were on my Z06 when I bought it, but they were old despite having plenty of tread. They were absolutely worthless; you could NEVER give it full power in 1st or 2nd gear, at any speed, or it would spin and wheel hop like a mad dog. You could even break them loose in 3rd without too much trouble).

I don't mean your idea of "mild driving," I mean this :

95% grandma driving
4.9% spirited driving
0.1% autoX

Haha, I think the worst were Star-Specs. I was killing sets of them in something like 7-8k miles with NO track or autocross time.

I can't imaging having tires that behave like whats on my car on anything nearly as powerful as a Z06 (if thats a c6 z06 I'd love to get a ride in it). I look at pilot sports but they were $400 a tire smmfh

^^ it's a c5, and it's for sale. Cheapest good C5 I've seen.

I liked Nitto's NT-05 for a really hot-rod street tire.

pilot sports or pilot cups bruh! hankook ventus v12, while predictably sliding, slides a lot. i liked the feedback, even though they were telling me stuff i didn't want to hear

that was on the 540i - similar car with less power

They don't drive like street/track rubber (like NT-05, Star Spec, etc), but they're a great "real world" performance tire. If you aren't going to drive anywhere but on a public road, there's no reason in the world to go with more aggressive rubber than those Contis.

Any tires will do this if they sit long enough. Especially Z-Rated tires. What's the speed rating and build date on your tires?
