I'm considering doing a cam swap in my G8. Has anyone driven a cammed car? What kind of issues can I expect. G8's came with a l76 with DOD/AFM which sounds like crap when its active and flowing through my long tubes and flowmasters (so I tuned it out). I'm thinking I'll go as big as possible without requiring a stall. So 600+ lift 112 lsa.Something like this Dont tell me its a sedan blah blah.I wouldn't mind this sound either, but I don't think VA police will allow it[Edited on September 21, 2013 at 11:11 AM. I want this performance part ...because of the sound. expect poor idle, poor gas mileage, and soot on your rear bumper if you dont have something to tune ignition advance with an increased intake duration.

I'll be getting a wideband and dyno/street tune if I decide to go with the swap. I want to have 500+ hp at the wheel and run a 11 sec qtr mile. So yes I want the performance gain, and the sweet sound.

if you only want/need that power when you're at the strip, go nitrous imo. much cheaper mod that's only on/affecting the mpg when you want it. the car started with ~350whp? just read L76, so like 300-320whp. an extra 200hp from bolt ons is asking a bit much imo[Edited on September 21, 2013 at 2:58 PM. Do the cam... You'll love it... Then spray it....But if this is your dd keep in mind you'll loose some bottom end.

500+ would include nitrous or a supercharger (too expensive). As of right now I have CAI, headers, cats deleted, 3inch exhaust, xpipe, and superchips tuner. I'm leaving a little on the table because I don't want to pay for a real tune until I actually go in the motor. And I have another 25k miles of warranty. From what I've seen from similar cars I should be around 360-370 to the wheels now. Mild cam would give me low 4's.

EFI live tuning? IMO, if it's tuned correctly you'll have the boogity-boogity and minimal adverse effects.

That's a little much for a DD. I was considering the Holden Badges, but I feel like they are a little played out. And sadly the front symbol leaves holes in the bumper.
