What is it about this place that makes it so popular? I've been a time or two and it was fine, but nothing special. Is it the only real bar in the area?[Edited on August 31, 2013 at 10:19 PM. Reason : 3]
8/31/2013 10:18:35 PM
yeah, it really is the only bar in the immediate areatherefore: annoying, and filled with yuppies who are either going to Target before or a movie after[Edited on August 31, 2013 at 10:48 PM. Reason : seriously, we live like 2 minutes from there]

the wings are pretty damn good. that's the only reason I went

i've always felt like the likelihood of someone driving away from lynnwood grill drunk was a lot higher than some place downtown due to the ubiquitous nature of cabs toward the city center.
8/31/2013 11:53:44 PM
^^ That's what I was asking. I'm not familiar enough with the area to know if it's the only place to go. FWIW, you shouldn't go anywhere on Fayetteville other than Foundation on a weeknight.^ Sitting on the corner of Martin & Salisbury last night, we counted no less than 35 unique cab companies.[Edited on September 1, 2013 at 12:12 AM. there's that place up by pleasant valleypretty popular for older follks.^yeah that's what i mean. tons of cabs downtown, not so much out in the fringes. [Edited on September 1, 2013 at 12:21 AM. Reason : ]

North Raleigh is a wasteland when it comes to bars. The new Hibernian is pretty decent as well. Rudino's Rooftop is really nice when the weather is nice. That's all I've got...
9/1/2013 12:19:20 AM
saints and scholars isn't half bad. haven't been to the new hibernian. also trailees? (i probably butchered the spelling) up in Brier creek i've heard of people going to. never been myself.
9/1/2013 12:23:08 AM
Trali isn't badbut much further away
9/1/2013 12:24:10 AM
In that area I think there's blincos, O'Malleys, sharkys or something, some place on ebenezer church.. Maybe a Mexican restaurant on creedmoor.. The mall and Crabtree tavern and a couple places at Edwards mill. Lynnwood and Rudinos probably look the most inviting
9/1/2013 12:29:43 AM
O'Malleys is the one i was thinking of.
9/1/2013 12:30:46 AM
There is also Luxury Box. My neighbors and I usually walk to Lynnwood, but I find myself going to Luxury Box more and more because the food is good, there's always a seat at the bar, and every game is on TV.Leesville Taproom, Sawmill Taproom, and Buffalo's are other bars somewhat close (I think Buffalo's is actually Carolina Wing Company or something now).

There's sawmill tavern in N Raleigh as well.We lived closer to Lynn rd and six forks, but often went to Lynnwood for their wings (my favorite in town)--Monday nights are usually slammed. I've only been a few times since the new building open as we moved by the time it did. Rooftop is cool, but I liked the former location more.Iirc, Lynnwood started their own shuttle system for surrounding apartment complexes and neighborhoods to prevent their patrons from drinking and driving bc of the cab situation. ^^aha. Didn't see yours til after I posted, but this means I wasn't crazy thinking they had that. [Edited on September 1, 2013 at 9:39 AM. Reason : ]

^ the owner is a self proclaimed "hop-head", and he wanted all their beer to have a distinct hoppy taste. There is also a bar under Fat Daddy's.
9/1/2013 10:07:13 AM
lynnwood brews their own beer?
9/1/2013 10:12:33 AM
Yes they started brewing their own beer, and it's fucking terrible.
9/1/2013 10:59:44 AM
They just started serving it about a month ago, maybe two.
9/1/2013 10:59:50 AM
ive ordered take-out from there once and was very unimpressed. However, last week i met some friends up there around lunch time and it was very good, much larger menu when you dine in.I really should go there more often being that I live right thereanother option in the area is Leesville tap room..at 540 and leesville. ..but after going to lynnwood I would not go to leesville tap room again, so many reasons..lynwood also provides a shuttle service apparently..[Edited on September 1, 2013 at 11:01 AM. Backdraft
9/1/2013 12:07:12 PM
I also enjoy their wings. Their original location, adjacent to the Raleigh Grande, was the short-lived second location of Lilly's Pizza. That old location would get so crowded, it absolutely sucked getting a table.
9/1/2013 6:12:17 PM
service sucks
9/2/2013 12:03:55 AM
Since Buffalo's changed to Carolina wing company, they jacked up the prices on just about everything. Will not go back.
9/2/2013 12:22:00 AM
Is Blincos still open?
9/2/2013 9:37:17 AM
No.
9/2/2013 10:15:15 AM
blincos used to have good brisket

What's wrong with O'Malley's
9/2/2013 2:00:40 PM
Blinco's is closed. Lynnwood is douchey. Flying Burrito owns. (Old Lynnwood spot)
9/2/2013 2:11:42 PM
^^ it's like a wannabe biker bar or something. The people are old and regular, if you're not one of them they kinda all stare at you.. But it was ok. Food wasn't particularly good, I don't remember prices.. I'd go again but it wouldn't be my first choice
9/2/2013 3:17:48 PM
OMalley's is a shithole.Edwards Mill B&G has decent food, but is a gin tank full of geezers. They used to have a crazy drunk guy who'd drink til his night shift started at the Teeter, then moonwalk around the bar a few times before leaving. Rudino's is meh. When I sit on their patio, I feel like it's only a matter of time before some dumbass on their cell phone jumps the curb with the car they're driving and kills us all. The only good thing about Crabtree Tavern is the two good bartenders. They just fired their old chef and are supposedly redo-ing their menu for the bazillionth time. If Blinco's actually closed then the forces of good have won a great victory over a place of darkened blight. But none of this matters b/c Lynnwood is the only place in the area open til 2AM every day. Plus their food trumps all the places listed above.
9/2/2013 4:45:15 PM
Blincos is closed. Shame, I actually liked that place when I felt like grabbing a drink with the guys and not having to raise my voice to be heard across the table. Plus the bartenders were pretty awesome. Also, I think they put crack cocaine on their friesI like Lynnwood, past and present iteration. Rooftop is pretty great on nice nights, but I'd suggest getting a table rather than crowding around the bar.Decent TV set up downstairs for the sports fans, we head up there a couple times a month on Saturdays during football season. They've opened up their own brewery. For the most part the beers are pretty good, nothing spectacular but since this is mostly their first run they have the chance to tweak what's working and what's not.Food is pretty good. Definitely their wings. Pepperoni Rolls are also tasty. Recently they've started having some really decent weekly food features. Other week they had a pizza with hop infused olive oil, fresh mozz, proscuitto, arugala and kalamata olives...it was amazing.Like most places some people like it, some people won't. You can get a shitty server one night and an amazing one the next. Get to know the staff a bit and they treat you well there though.
9/2/2013 5:14:57 PM
The only thing I know about Blinco's is that some off-duty police officers busted up in there and beat the crap out of a cook. And they got away with it because the prosecution somehow neglected to establish that the Blinco's was in the court's jurisdiction.Y'all remember that?!?!LOL, anyway, I've never been...the name makes it sound like the kind of place that would smell bad. Can anyone confirm this for me?
9/2/2013 5:31:28 PM
Yes, Blincos was a shithole. Everyone in there was so surly. That place used to be an Olive Garden.
9/2/2013 5:49:03 PM
Lynnwood is a fucking cult
9/2/2013 6:24:00 PM
This thread confirmed it: North Raleigh, not even once.

9/2/2013 6:50:11 PM
blincos used to be somewhere else right? i remember going there the first time the canes were in the playoffs with my old roommate to watch the games.
9/2/2013 7:39:24 PM
Blinco's was originally on the corner of Falls of Neuse and Millbrook.
9/2/2013 8:02:45 PM
oh right. there's another bar in it's old location now? beside the meathouse?
9/2/2013 8:10:13 PM
lynnwood is always too busycant even get out of target without dealing with their traffic..on a side note, that target SUCKS so fucking bad, i have never been there and not had to wait in an incredibly long line at checkout. Not to mention their employees are all borderline momos ..so even with 4 lines open it still takes foreverfuckers
9/2/2013 8:52:35 PM
I thought Blinco's was originally a Houlihans.
9/3/2013 1:44:43 AM
i've spent a significant amount of time in north raleigh over the last several months and i've been under the impression the only places there were to go were chick-fil-a, papa john's, and cook out...WHO KNEW THERE WERE OTHER PLACES?!?!
