I am looking for a weekend type trip at the end of October for the hubs and I. We are country bumpkins and it would be nice to find something relaxing but fun like fall festivals, scenic or something low key. Any one have any good ideas I should check into? Thanks :-)

are those your only options? You could try the Oktoberfest Festival in Helen, GA

do you like camping?

Get a cabin for the weekend in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. There is some nice hiking around that area.

I'm not completely limited... I just wanted to stay within driving distance. We aren't much for camping and being preggers might make things uncomfortable I'm down for a bed and breakfast. I'll check out Oktoberfest in GA... I heard Pigeon Forge was nice too... Thanks for the ideas.. Keep'em coming too

second Gatlinburg. If you like camping check out Merchant's Mill Pond. It's incredible and extremely cheap. You have to rent a canoe to get to campgrounds. You can also rent kayaks iirc. look at the youtube videos on it.

Bryson City is nice with a quaint little downtown. I rented a cabin not far from town and had a great time.

If you're willing to go all the way to TN why not the NC mountains? There's Boone, etc. in the north and Asheville, etc. towards the south. And there's plenty of the Blue Ridge Parkway in between. You could get a B&B in Blowing Rock and then get out on the water in Price Lake Park off the parkway. Quite a few cabins in the area, also.

If you go to Helen but want the flexibility of having a quiet cabin/room to stay in, you could probably stay in/around Hiawassee, GA or anywhere around Lake Chatuge.
