Did anyone else see it yet? I went last night. Overall it was a good action flick, but it had its weaknesses.

It was bad. The plot was really fucking dumb. It looked pretty great though and there were plenty of cool tech and weapon ideas.

Too many plot holes, but still good GoldieO, aaronburro, and Smath would hate it

would agree on plot holes and discontinuities. i also thought they took ideas from too many ips (though all ips i like) and put them all together and then didnt expand on each element enough to develop it. could have stood to be more focused or a longer movie

Fun movie, but overall it left a lot to be desired.

It was a fun action flick not doubt about it, but it had its issues and plot holes. I would have liked to have seen more of life on Elysium and the ending was predictable. There is certainly room for a sequel if they want to take on Earth's issues and what they do with Elysium.

thought it was great, probably my favorite action movie of the summer

What were the plot holes?

They should have removed the hispanic chick altogether. I thought her effect on the plot was minimal to none, and she had zero chemistry with matt damon's character. There should have been at least one semi-main character who was a citizen of Elysium to give us a point of view from the other side. As beautiful as Elysium was in the movie, we didn't really get a sense of how different life was there (other than the med-bays and lush vegetation).I didn't really get a chance to gain any emotion for any of the characters. Jodie foster's character should have been explained more in depth as to why she was bad, and motivation for what she was doing. All in all, i give it a solid 7. The visual effects were great, and the movie had good action with good pacing of the plot to make up for the weak story. I really only saw it for Sharlto Copley as Kruger who was pretty much the best part of the movie. Activate Kruger

saw it today. it looked good and that's the reason I went to see after it I learned it was made by the same dude that made District 9. there are really no characters. Matt damon and some Latinos. that's all the characters were. shaky cam. disguting. I still dont know why they show scenes like fight scenes super close up and quick cuts. I want to actually see the scene . pan out. Jodi foster didnt do shit but scowl really it was a futuristic piece on our modern health care and immigration problem. like I said I came for the special effects so it did its job.[Edited on August 17, 2013 at 9:05 PM. I liked it. much better than Pacific Rim, which everyone seemed to love for reasons I don't understand.

^^ what it it was rebuilding the atoms, then his DNA doesn't matterduh

the plot was awful. come on, he had radiation sickness but all he needed was some suit and some pills to feel better? and Helen Hunt's accent was terrible. The political allegory was too heavy-handed.

I expected a thread about this old track...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa74OesRIlc

damn, this thread went nowhere.Just saw the movie. Good action, but like it was mentioned, the characters never got developed. Did you really care when Matt Damon died? As was also mentioned, adding a character from Elysium could have given some balance to the movie. So I guess I don't have a whole lot to add to this thread.
