I've seen a lot of ads for this one. Never been a big Jay fan, but the production sounds nice.Reviews are inconclusive. Streaming now for further investigation

7/15/2013 12:35:29 PM
Worst album of his career
7/15/2013 7:31:08 PM
You can tell he spent a lot of money on beats/production. I think this is a good review: http://www.theshadowleague.com/articles/jay-z-and-magna-carta-holy-grail-we-can-t-feel-it-if-it-has-no-feelingAlbum sounds good, but content is just not the same. Not that that is bad, jay is just not the same person.
7/15/2013 7:45:48 PM
Jay should just give up, he is like 40-something, and as a rapper that is WAY over the hill. He has gotten too soft for the game.
7/15/2013 9:03:21 PM
people need to stop saying that shit. the game has changed. you can't call someone soft when the game itself is soft as hell.we have a rappers named Drake and Kendrick Lamar doing work. that "hard" shit is wrapped up. 50 cents killed it. Production is excellent. mostly timbo. and he put NAS on it. too much Justin Timberlake. Everyone knows Robin Thicke is the new black. he cant rap about the street life and crime all day ( which I sure most of you people know about LOL)he isn't about that shit no more. The man is buying Picasso paintings. this is also my main criticism on the album. he raps effortlessly , almost to a fault. It personally doesn't hit me. I know nothing about being that rich. He's a bragger. I get it Jay. You're on Forbes and my life is bullshit and poor and I had the nerve to buy your album. I get it.
7/15/2013 9:16:30 PM
still a better album than Yeezus.

More like Magna Carta, Holy Fail. AMIRITE?!?
7/15/2013 9:30:25 PM
It'd be an understatement to say I'm addicted to the beat for "Tom Ford", though.[Edited on July 15, 2013 at 9:32 PM. Reason : track goes hard, mane]
7/15/2013 9:31:58 PM
let me say this. I actually enjoy this era of hip hop even though I think it's dying a slow death. since the mainstream rappers may not be at the top of their lyrical/content game (while lyrical rappers drown themselves in words) but the production/producers are at the top of their damn game. It feels like EVERYONE is. From Timbo and Boi-1da to Big Krit and 9th wonder. I enjoy it. It wont last long tho.[Edited on July 15, 2013 at 9:47 PM. Reason : dd]
7/15/2013 9:44:08 PM
Yea, Timbo won't last long. Only been doing it since the late 90's. LOL.
7/15/2013 10:23:13 PM
I'm taking about my enjoyment of it dammit
7/15/2013 10:33:15 PM

lots of recycled beats on this album. Its mehhhhhh.I thought JayZ retired anyways
7/16/2013 2:05:03 AM
A huge LOL to people hating Jay's lyrics and calling these beats recycled. Do you listen to music, or just skim through it?
7/16/2013 7:03:25 AM
JayZ sucks.
7/16/2013 8:42:15 AM
it's the safest album he could have made and it has about zero edge to itdamn deserving of a 'meh'
7/16/2013 9:44:53 AM
I never really got into too much hip-hop. being a white kid from the rural suburbs, i just couldn't really relate. i found it odd when other rural suburban white kids started basing their identity on the hip-hop culture and saying "know what i'm saying?" all the time. yes, i understand what you are saying. That's not to say i didn't get in to some here and there along the way. I'm still a big fan of De La Soul's first few albums, and I listened to Tribe Called Quest a lot. Goodie Mob was pretty good too.I'll probably try to give the new album a listen. Jaydiohead was interesting, but got old real quick.[Edited on July 16, 2013 at 10:58 AM. Reason : ]

fucking bullshit braggisg just like stated above. theres no heart in this album. NONE. at least yeezus has some heart put into getting pussy. both are lackluster but this is much worse than yeezus. worst of his career. this album is like jordan on the wizards.

7/16/2013 12:13:17 PM
Jay-Z ruins almost every song he appears onI'd be more interested in hearing the instrumental version of this album
7/16/2013 12:38:49 PM
wtf? people be hating. not even objective. who you people like? Cormega isn't walking thru that door.

^^ that's assuming that it's undeservedthere's a reason it's gotten mixed reviewsand mixed is putting it nicely[Edited on July 16, 2013 at 1:19 PM. Reason : there just isn't much there]
7/16/2013 1:18:51 PM
and many of the people who rate the album poorly do so while also praising Yeezus. I'm a big fan of both artists and aside from the "pushing the envelope" category, theres not a single way in which Kanye made the better album.
7/16/2013 1:25:31 PM
ha
7/16/2013 1:26:41 PM
great point. I revise my opinion.
7/16/2013 1:29:47 PM
Can't we all just agree that "Tom Ford" has one of the illest beats this decade?
7/16/2013 2:24:31 PM
I too am much too white to like hip-hop but I can actually listen to Yeezus. I prefer the parts he isn't rapping on and if he is I just usually listen to what's in the background. I can't stand when these guys talk about all the shit they have. At least, "I Am A God" is so extreme it's ridiculous. I really like the social commentary on New Slaves. I also really like dark albums. Hell, Yeezus ain't even that dark to me. It's not something I'll be listening to next year though.
7/16/2013 2:28:43 PM
Yeezus is such a hypocritical piece of shit album, at least from a hip hop perspectiveif you are into Daft Punk and Nine Inch Nails and stuff I can see how someone would like the sound of it
7/16/2013 2:30:43 PM
That sounds reasonable. The Downward Spiral was one of my favorite albums growing up.
7/16/2013 2:33:22 PM
I enjoyed Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, TDS and even some of the EPs in betweenI just don't think Kanye fits in that mix...I think he should stick to making catchy beats

I guess nobody can touch lupe
7/17/2013 8:45:30 PM
