I am in need of a quality, queen-sized futon for my office/guest BR in my new apartment, but I honestly have no clue where to look. Any decent recommendations that won't hurt my parents' back or guests when they come visit? Thanks.

My brother got one from Fred's Beds that was his main bed for many years. Queen size too.

Thanks! Looks like they'll ship to NorCal (where I live), but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with some big box store retailers? Walmart? Costco? Pier 1? Target?

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Emily-Convertible-Futon-Multiple-Colors/16550066I used to have one of the metal frame futons with a detached mattress, and this one is much more comfy. It is still stiff when you lay down, not exactly same as sleeping in a bed, but it is a big improvement over traditional college futon. You don't feel the frame with your butt while sitting up, and the mattress does not slide down and have to be re-adjusted every week like it does with the old-school futons.

most of the ones i've seen from the big box retailers are shitty. Costco might be worth a look, they tend to do a better job finding quality furniture than the others. Ours also came from Fred's beds. It was pricey, but the mattress has stayed comfortable for over 8 years now.

Okay, so it sounds like Fred's Beds is what I'm looking for. Odds are my parents will bitch about the futon and I'll be stuck sleeping on it anyway, and I have a bad back Which model do you all recommend?

i have the "eureka" in a queen size.... the only thing i found is that when it is used as a bed for a long time and i want to switch it to a sofa...the mattress is a bit too bulky to just bend into position so i have to sit heavy stuff on it for a while....but i suspect that would be true with any thick mattress you got...
