Curious how western audiences will respond to the themes / motivations in the movie.

That's assuming it hasn't been changed to suit an American audience.

Why do we need remakes of everything? Half the movies coming out are remakes or sequels. Grown Ups 2? ffsThat said hope this is good.

Just saw it.For all that Spike Lee has said about this being a "different movie" than the original, it really isn't.Is it bad? No. Is it superior in any way? No. Is it worse in any way? Imo, some aspects are worse, yes. One part that really jumps to mind is the scene/sequence where he leaves the hotel after having gone back (the fight scene). It looks so much more fake than the original. Like distracting to the point that it took me out of the movie some. Guys falling w/o being hit, taking ridiculous swings at Josh Brolin from behind and missing. I mean, it was laughable at times. It's been a while since I've seen the original, so maybe it was as absurdly bad and I just don't recall. Is it different at all? Yes, there are several changes. But the changes are ultimately pretty insignificant imo.The very, very end is different (the choice given in the original is not there). But I don't get at all how Spike Lee has been going on about this being a "different movie".I'd say just watch the Korean version if you haven't seen it and are thinking about seeing this (i think it's on Netflix).[Edited on November 29, 2013 at 4:51 PM. should i watch this tonight?

Haven't seen it but wouldn't. Only reason I would watch it is because Elizabeth Olsen is hot. Spike Lee didn't endorse it as a joint so. Just rewatch the original and feel the anguish.[Edited on March 29, 2014 at 10:14 PM. Reason : .]
