I have a thicker comforter that I use during the colder months (as I'm sure a lot of people do). When it gets warmer outside, for the past few years I've been swapping this for a simple fleece blanket, but it still retains a lot of heat so I just end up kicking it off at night. What do you people use for cool, lightweight bedding in summertime?

I have a thin coverlet from IKEA. For 9.99 it has served its purpose. Not very soft but the perfect weight over a nice sheet.

I sleep on top of everything with the AC blowing on me and still hot half the time. I'm also like a space heater though.

we have a duvet cover and in the summer replace the heavy down duvet insert with a really light weight duvet insert. I think the brand was clima cool or something.

i'd like to kick the sorry son of a bitch who invented the duvet cover right square in the balls

In the summer, we just have whatever the coolest Ikea insert is and don't worry about putting it in a cover. In the winter, we have a warmer duvet inside our duvet cover. But, honestly a lot of times I just use the sheet in the summer and keep the Ikea duvet down at my feet in case I need it.

i use the same comforter as in the winter, but i turn the a/c to ~66. the joys of an energy efficient a/c unit and a small area to cool.[Edited on June 30, 2013 at 9:04 PM. Reason : t]

Yeah I use the same medium weight down alternative insert and duvet cover year round. I have to have the weight to sleep comfortably and just rely on AC to keep me comfortable.

I just blast the fuck out of the AC, and sleep with my usual blankethowever, I'm poor, and my place is small and pretty inexpensive to keep cool

In the olden days let when I had central A/C in a relatively energyy-efficient home, I'd leave it on 72 and user the comforter year-round. Now, with only an undersized window unit, I sleep under just a sheet with the unit blowing directly toward me and the ceiling fan on.
