Okay, so I've been looking around online to find the best way to do this, but all the walkthroughs are unclear and conflicting. I am at my mom's house and she has UVerse internet and tv, etc. They provided a router, a 2Wire 3800HGV-B, and I am trying to add a Netgear WNR2000v4 as the repeater. The problem I am having is I have never really done this before, and while the Netgear has a pretty user friendly interface to set itself up in repeater mode, I don't know which settings I have to adjust on the 3800HGV to make sure everything is smooth.I have looked and it seems like they need the same SSID, channel, and security information, but unfortunately I can't get it all worked out. I have tried matching those up, but it also seems like you can't run security on your router when in repeater mode. In that case I guess I can just not broadcast the SSID or broadcast it but add the MAC addresses of everything individually.Anyway, I was hoping that maybe someone had some experience with this and might be able to help out. I already tried tech support at UVerse and they couldn't help without passing me off to their pay support service, and I wasn't about to do that.I know the WNR2000 supports this and should work fine, and I have read from people using the 3800HGV as the base station and making it work, too, I'm just not that tech saavy where I can make this work, and I thought I would come here for help if anyone can. THX.

wireless repeaters essentially cut your bandwidth in half i thought.

don't use a repeater, use a point to point bridged link. ubnt rockets imo
