What's this new share everything bullshit? Totally screwing anyone that doesn't have/want/need multiple devices. That shit tacks on an extra $40 a month
6/27/2013 4:46:55 PM
What?
6/27/2013 4:47:51 PM
You don't have a second phone for drugs?Im Krallum and I approved this message
6/27/2013 4:49:12 PM
this just inmobile data costs money
6/27/2013 4:56:48 PM
Sorry, but $100 for the god damn starter plan is cray.
6/27/2013 5:36:51 PM
Newsflash...tons of people have beeing paying $100 for their basic data plans for years.
6/27/2013 5:37:38 PM
A single line for mobile data, before the share everything plan, cost ~$100/mo.Plan cost + $30 for data + $10 unlimited texting...
6/27/2013 5:39:52 PM
^^ well that's just stupid...and a lie.^ minimal voice wouldn't run super high (I'm talking <450 - nobody needs to talk that fucking much), no text because of google voice had me out under $70.[Edited on June 27, 2013 at 5:44 PM. Reason : ]

Verizon is admittedly the most expensive. I doubt AT&T is much cheaper. If you want cheap, go to Sprint, but ya get whatcha pay for.
6/27/2013 6:09:37 PM
Mine would with Verizon. Of course the big thing with Verizon for me is their inability to lower voice plans.
6/27/2013 6:12:28 PM
tmobile prepaid is the way to go. $30 a month for unlimited data and texting, and 100 min talk.[Edited on June 27, 2013 at 6:23 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2013 6:21:11 PM
^^ No joke. I have no need for unlimited text and voice. I just need data, a couple of minutes and google voice will take care of texts.

6/27/2013 7:41:26 PM
^unlimited data from Verizon? Thought they got rid of it. I'm still clinging to my old plan because pdanet is the only internet I have at home [Edited on June 27, 2013 at 7:51 PM. Reason : nvm i see u were talking about the old plans]
6/27/2013 7:46:45 PM
Was talking about before the Share Everything plans. I, too, am clinging to my GS3 and unlimited data but suspect they're going to bounce those still on unlimited plans once the last of the unlimited contracts start expiring (~July 2014).
6/27/2013 7:51:29 PM
6/27/2013 7:51:50 PM
When are they just gonna start doing everything over the data connection?
6/27/2013 7:53:34 PM
Saw something about late next year for LTE only phones. Still take a while before they phase out their 3G and 1x network though.http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/27/4467742/verizon-turns-lte-service-500th-market-volte-2014

Go will Republic Wireless. My wife and I both have it and don't regret dumping verizon at all.

I... i might go t-mobile... I can't stand a huge ass phone bill. currently pay $88 for 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited text, and unlimited data (3G, old Verizon plan). Granted, this isn't "huge" per se, but damn if I don't think this is a lot of money...I use about 5Gb of data. I pandora the fuck out of my phone. so... with that said...Screw t-mobil. Cheaper monthly rate, but I have to buy a new $400 phone or provide my own? Unless I'm missing something...Republic looks entriguing... But it's off the sprint network... Grr... Guess you gotta pay to play?[Edited on June 27, 2013 at 8:36 PM. Reason : .][Edited on June 27, 2013 at 8:37 PM. Reason : .]

my wife and i regularly get up around 10 gigs in a monthare there any other options besides Verizon for folks in rural areas?
6/27/2013 8:39:38 PM
6/27/2013 8:43:13 PM
how fast is it and how much does it cost?[Edited on June 27, 2013 at 8:54 PM. Reason : wtf? still not unlimited. fuck that shit.]
6/27/2013 8:49:10 PM
Cheapest is $49.99 for 5GB @5Mbps. 10GB and 15GB are $59.99 and $79.99 both @10Mbps. If you're a night owl, you get an additional 5,10,15 between 2 and 8am. Also give a $10 discount if you have a Dish tv package. Parents have the 5GB one and it's plenty fast for the occasional video streaming.

Go with Ting. It's on Sprint's network, so it's not quite as good as Verizon's, but there's no contract.Their customer service is very helpful. For two people, I pay about $60 or less a month. It's TONS better than Verizon -- they charge insano prices. I'm glad as heck to be rid of them. Here's a link to get $25 off your first month with Ting: https://zg8obp7g41.ting.com/[Edited on June 27, 2013 at 9:10 PM. Reason : Tinging it up]
6/27/2013 9:09:14 PM
^lolRepublic is only 20 bucks a month and it's unlimited and also runs off of the sprint network (when not connected to wifi)
6/27/2013 9:11:12 PM
On a related note, I got bored and decided to order an AT&T Net10 sim off ebay for .99. $45/mo for unlimited everything (well not quite unlimited, they cut your data at 2.5GB unless you're using the Tmobile sim) Popped it in my Verizon GS3 and everything worked fine after adding the APN to get data and mms working. Only downside is that it's limited to edge data because Verizon blocks the 3G bands.
6/27/2013 9:23:11 PM
That's a pretty massive downside.Sounds a lot of trouble for not much upside imo.
6/27/2013 9:24:54 PM
Buy Nexus and problem solved though. Really only an issue if you want to bring over a Verizon phone with GSM capabilities.
6/27/2013 9:29:33 PM
heck, i complain about my $80/month unlimited planit's on borrowed time, anyway...my VZW contract expired yesterday, so now i'm just waiting for them to take away unlimited
6/27/2013 9:37:45 PM
I pay $48.80 for unlimited everything on att and/or tmo via straight talk. no contract
6/27/2013 9:42:14 PM
yeah, but:VZW >>>>>>> everyone elseyou pay for having the best network, though
6/27/2013 9:43:19 PM
yeah, being in the middle of nowhere and still having service is why I haven't already ditched Verizon. Maybe get a cheap pay as you go prepaid phone on Verizon (only $.99 for each day you use it and .10/min for non-vzw calls). for when you need it and then one of the other options for your main line. ]
6/27/2013 9:47:11 PM
Some Straight Talk phones use Verizon's network.
6/27/2013 9:48:54 PM
Tech/deal savvy tdubbers have been getting good deals...but the majority of Americans have been paying $100/month for their smart phone data plans for a long time. I've done AT&T and Verizon for the past five years and I see every other person come in there and get their boilerplate $100 data plans.
6/27/2013 9:51:20 PM
I have unlimited everything for $45 with Virgin Mobile. Also got my Android phone for $50 on their cyber Monday sale.No complaints here.
6/27/2013 10:39:38 PM
i'm less than a mile from a tower in a davidson, nc and am lucky to get one bar in my apt on verizon. hooray!and verizon makes you pay $100 to get a device that uses your broadband connection to double as a cell transmitter (that all of your neighbors can use too). fun times.
6/27/2013 10:45:21 PM
^sounds like you need Republic Wireless.
6/27/2013 10:48:53 PM
6/27/2013 11:02:55 PM
Page plus is awesome. Uses Verizon's network. No roaming. Pay as you go. Their $29 plan has 1200 minutes, 3000 texts and 250mb of data. Unless you tether your phone for internet access, that seems to be enough.
6/28/2013 7:50:50 AM
I'm maintaining true baller status by having the same data plan that I had 6 years ago. It was unlimited then, so I'm grandfathered in. I pay around $100 a month for 450 voice, unlimited text, and unlimited data (verizon).SWAGNIFICENT

I, too, am on an old VZW plan. $85/month for 450 min, unlimited N&W/M2M/F&F, unlimited texting, and unlimited data. My contract expires in 1 year.Where can I take my 33GB/month?
6/28/2013 8:32:46 AM
I just signed up for Republic Wireless.. I look forward to the savings.
