Since TWW minus whale be a blog, I put new wheels on the Maxima this week.As you all have seen from my other threads, I already put in two 10w3's in the trunk, and added a cat back exhaust. This week I put the new wheels on. They are BBS LM replicas w/ hyper silver faces, and DWS tires. The rears are a stepped lip.18x8 et35 front w/ 245/45/18 tire (factory size)18x9 et35 rear w/ 275/40/18 tire (same diameter)The fronts are 21lbs per wheel, and the rears are 24lbs each. The factory wheel is ~21lbs.They sit absolutely flush in the rear. The sidewall of the tire might stick out about 2mm from the fender when looking for plumb.I had to lean out a little for the sidewall to actually show up.Window tint goes on Thursday. Then all that is left is Eibachs, and possibly a rear sway bar upgrade and y-pipe. Driving 45K+ miles a year means that I'm not going to go to crazy on this car. No TT in the passenger seat, no big turbo and air bags, no wild sub boxes.

hahaha, still looking for a cabnet made from here or somewhere else as well.[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 3:59 PM. Reason : .]

nice look ....but.... wrong wheel drive?
6/25/2013 4:31:37 PM
I'm sorry, but my upbringing prevents me from approving of a staggered wheel set up on a FWD car . I mean, unless massive understeer is your thing...
6/25/2013 4:37:04 PM
Not a fan of the wheels, look kinda small for 18s, but glad you're happy. Report back on the drop in gas mileage.
6/25/2013 4:39:31 PM
yeah man you should put the deep ones on the front and try it out. probably won't help with torque steer though...
6/25/2013 4:41:31 PM
Yes, wrong wheel drive. It is a highway commuter, I don't foresee over or under-steer being a problem. They look small because of the lip design, and the massive wheel gap.Gas mileage shouldn't change. Tires and weights are near identical. This car has very minimal torque steer, surprisingly. My wife's venza is worse. The rears would fit on the front, and if I decide to drag race my 3,600 lb sedan then I will swap them.[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 4:47 PM. Reason : it loooooks faster.....]

6/25/2013 4:47:19 PM
Wider tires only in the rear. I don't think that 1" increase will make much difference.I'll know by next week though.[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 4:48 PM. Reason : .]

6/25/2013 4:53:13 PM
but, but traction is needed on my 60k mile warranty all season tires.....
6/25/2013 4:54:25 PM
definitely would help on an auto-x course
6/25/2013 5:07:07 PM
some folks just can't leave their car alone
6/25/2013 5:49:00 PM
I regret that I am one of those folks.Thinking about trading the Subie for a gto or ctsv .... Already researching heads and cams and stroker kits that I know I'll end up getting and then regret the 5 mpg I get..... :-/ sad.... Almost makes me not want one.
6/25/2013 6:14:33 PM
I bought this car thinking that I could leave it alone. Made it about 8 months.Though, this is almost nothing compared to what I have done in the past.
6/25/2013 6:16:07 PM
money down the shitter on a car like that
6/25/2013 6:20:49 PM
are your factory wheels for sale? [Edited on June 25, 2013 at 6:59 PM. Reason : +1 eibachs]
6/25/2013 6:57:56 PM
^Sent PMSo far:Wheels= $600Stereo= $400Exhaust= $500Tint= $250Total= $1750If/when I add y-pipe and eibachs, then I'm in it another $450.Adding $2200 to the car when I drive it as much as I do isn't really much. I spend $6500 a year on gas.[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 7:20 PM. Reason : .]
6/25/2013 7:19:38 PM
it's $2200 so you can look like a mexican
6/25/2013 7:45:28 PM
$600 = wheels and tires?
6/25/2013 7:56:57 PM
Was able to reuse the tires, so they weren't an added cost. Tires by themselves were about $1300, but those don't count towards the upgrade total. They are the Continental Contitac DWS, super high mileage tires. The wheels were $600.[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 8:06 PM. Reason : .]

Time to get rid of the nose bleed ride height and put some h&rs on it
6/25/2013 8:27:38 PM
That's pretty cheap prices for the exhaust parts
6/26/2013 9:02:10 AM
6/26/2013 9:06:27 AM
The two magnaflow mufflers and the resonator were $400. Having Henry's weld it all up was another $100
6/26/2013 11:25:17 AM
c'mon guys, it's his car and he wants to enjoy it.not like it's a 91 civic with over $1500 spent in exhaust work, $300 sway bar kit, etc.
6/26/2013 1:00:30 PM
Or a TT maxima
6/26/2013 2:00:12 PM
^YOU have me beat there. at least the civic still pulls dd duty
6/26/2013 2:38:41 PM
Is your car still slower than a Camry?
6/26/2013 6:48:45 PM
Those rims are too small for that car. Would look better on r35 gtr rims and lowered with stock everything else.
6/26/2013 7:17:11 PM
haaaaa shitdude, what are you doing at Ingles?
6/26/2013 7:35:24 PM
They are the same size wheels as factory, so they can't really be too small....I had just walked out of "Sportsmans Hangout" or whatever that place is called, next door to ingles.I work maybe 2 minutes from there.I couldn't wait, so I ordered the Eibach springs and camber kit a few minutes ago. Should be here next week, and then go on over the weekend.[Edited on June 26, 2013 at 7:48 PM. Reason : .]
6/26/2013 7:48:01 PM
They look good to me. Big rims are for rappers and drug dealers.
6/26/2013 8:43:18 PM
Time for a VIP stance
6/26/2013 8:46:35 PM
^^^oh I know... was hoping to harass you about InglesThat place is about worthless save for battery and soft drink discount sales
6/27/2013 7:12:22 AM
I used to be able to buy ammo there cheaper than Walmart. Now I go in once a month just to see if there is anything worth while; there isn't.
6/27/2013 8:44:23 AM
6/27/2013 9:01:41 AM
^^was referring to Ingles, yaknow I've never been to the 'hangout'
6/27/2013 9:07:38 AM
^^I was talking about putting the wide ones up front
6/27/2013 10:10:28 AM
oops! out of context then
6/27/2013 11:06:06 AM
Got the windows tinted today. Max legal.
6/27/2013 1:02:15 PM
That's actually a pretty slick looking car man. Going to look nice lower for sure.
6/27/2013 2:18:02 PM
Lowered it today. Took about 3.5 hours with basic hand tools. The crappy rented spring compressors is what took all the time. Went from a 3.5 finger gap to a 1.5 finger gap.
7/6/2013 7:33:18 PM
Ehhh. Sorry but maybe it's just the way it's sitting in the driveway
7/6/2013 7:36:04 PM
I'll get one on level ground tomorrow.
7/6/2013 7:43:38 PM
Well atleast I can say your car is unique, every maxima I see with wheels goes 22's and lots of chrome. Yours just looks like a 4 door, ricer.
7/7/2013 8:10:29 AM
What package of Maxima is that? They're actually more fun to drive than you would expect. And as silly as I feel admitting this, the CVT paddle shifters are actually decent to mess around with once or twice. It "shifts" better than most slushbox paddleshifters, even though the floaty CVT feeling makes it weird. Torque is good on that engine too (it has a 3 stage intake manifold and variable valve timing on intake and exhaust).
7/7/2013 12:03:46 PM
7/7/2013 12:40:42 PM
Leaving the cvt to do its thing in auto mode is the fastest. Why bother with anything else. It is the SV with premium and tech packages.
