Anyone else been rear ended and had their back all fuxed up? I am wondering how long it takes to get back to normal. I got hit on Capital Blvd during that storm a couple of weeks ago, and still have strange pains and constant aches. The doc that saw me after the accident said 3-5 days I would feel better, then I went to primary care doc after that and they said he crazy its gonna be weeks. The wreck happened on 6/7 and my lower back seems to be a lot better but my neck and upper back are horrible.

I strained my neck in a skiing accident. It was sore for six months. I know that's not the same thing, but maybe I can offer some advice. Most of your injuries are probably deep within your muscles. Keep stretching your back so that it doesn't remain stiff. Get you some deep tissue massages. Working the kinks out will help you heal faster.I hope this helps in the slightest![Edited on June 23, 2013 at 2:32 PM. Reason : O]

wha PSH! guess you shouldn't have bought that ridiculous SUV with a crash-test rating of a shopping-cart. impulse forces are a bitch.with regard to your back: I guess some people started walking upright sooner than others.

with whiplash, you usually have some ligament damage too, so yeah, it can take a while

Don't let yourself believe that is is worse than it really is. If your doctor did not diagnose you with grade 3 or 4 whiplash, the absolutely most important thing is to keep being active. Do not be afraid to move your neck. Pain catastrophizing and fear of movement are two of the key factors in the Fear Avoidance Model which leads to chronic pain. Don't take this as me calling you a wimp by any means, because it is normal to feel these things, but the point is get over the accident, get active, and feel better.

when i t-boned this moron (he was traveling the opposite way as me, tried to turn left right in front of me, also he had no insurance), my back was sore for a long time. probably 6 months at least. i had some muscle relaxers that i took for about 2 days and quit. i just used heat packs/ice when it bothered me and it finally got better.
