I don't have a problem with the pops themselves, but cake pop makers are ridiculous and unnecessary.

Never had one, but it looks like a dumb idea.

I'd have to eat like 20 of those things to make a slice of cake.

we're not allowed to eat food anymore so we make muppets out of it instead of just burning it like we should

I've had them on a few occasions at Starbucks. They're like extra fudgey cake, and they're a fun treat.

I've never felt compelled to make my own cake pops, but I also don't bake. And I'm kinda glad I don't bake. I've eaten the entirety of many things--a whole bag of cheetos, a whole watermelon, a whole pizza, etc...but moving into baked goods territory would just be too depressing: "I ate 43 cake pops last night. "

^^LOL @ Hansbrough

and ^

Cakepops are super dense, if you could manage to eat 43 and not be really sick, I'd be very impressed.

And no they're not they're delightful and ever so much fun and I can't wait to start making them again this summer

WTF? The whole point of cake is to be fluffy. If these mofos are dense then I'm glad I'm allergic to these cakefails on a stick.

^ What are you allergic to that's in them and not in normal cake?

And... that's why they're not just mini cupcakes. They're a separate entity of their own, they're fudgey and very rich and very sweet.

Also absurdly time consuming, hence why I've made them... maybe 5 times in the past year?

If I want something dense then I want a brownie. If I want something fluffy and sweet then I want cake.

I can't have gluten and I'm willing to make gluten free cupcakes a couple times a year, but cake pops are on the oh hell no it's too much work list. Right up there with pop-tarts and blueberry pies and doughnuts. Delicious but not worth it. Plus I've never had a cake pop, so I'd have zero idea of what to aim for.

I understand what you think cake is. No need to explain it again.

I'm saying you're wrong.

I'm not even a cake lover or anything.

I had some bad cake pops this weekend. Way too doughy/dense/sweet. Now I won't have to fight the desire to buy them every time I go into a Starbucks.

The power of the Starbucks cake pop is that I can hand it to my little boy and enjoy my coffee in silence.

never heard of these until this past weekend at a friend's birthday

the ones i had were amazing and delicious...i assume they're comparatively expensive, so i wouldn't buy them myself, but i thoroughly enjoyed eating them

same with cupcake shops and froyo places on every corner...these seem to be fads that will fade away over time, but i enjoy them all while they're here

never tried a true "cake pop" but i got something that was similar at Carly C's that was fucking awesome. It was more dense and a little more gooey than "normal" cake, which to me is good. it was also dipped in chocolate as opposed to regular icing.

most cake pops I've ever seen or eaten are dipped in chocolate

the icing is mixed in with the cake and then someone rolls it around in their hands to form the ball

^^You have to take small bites and eat it slowly. Plus, it's on a stick so you can even try to be sexy about it.

there is nothing sexier than the slow biting, chewing, consumption, and immediate digestion of a semi-phallic object.

homemade cake pops are pretty neat

store bought cake pops are a way for starbucks to charge you $3 for a single bite of cake

They're like $1.50, and like everything everywhere, they're definitely a ripoff.

I swear I'm not a big fan or anything, but I'm surprised that everybody hates them so much and feels comfortable getting vocal about it.

I mean, I've thought cupcakes were stupid this whole time, and I never said a word. But, yeah, let's pay $5 to eat 12 servings of icing and sit there going OMG, THIS IS SO GOOD, like it's some kind of revelation that butter and sugar taste delicious.

Also, cake/brownie mixes...they're lazy and stupid, ladies. I started declining all of your baked goods some time ago because the Duncan Hines garbage is insulting, and it must stop. If you're gonna beg me to eat something that you've made, you've got to bring me something good. Mixing up butter and sugar in a bowl and then forcing other people to eat it does not mean you love to bake. I actually think it makes you some kind of sadist.

One of my co-workers bakes all the time, but she does that shit up right. She actually makes everything herself. No mixes, no canned icing, none of that stuff. I still won't eat much of it though because it's so ridiculously horrible for me.

Truth...I baked at a bakery for a year out of college, and it ruined me for breads and baked goods. The pre-made stuff isn't bad in a pinch (3am brownie craving)...but I agree, if you use the term "bake" you best be measuring out some flour and shit.

cake pops are stupid

i don't want a tiny piece of superdense cake coated in fondant that was made for looks and not taste with a stick running all up in it

i imagine they are loved by people who go to a bar and scream at the bartender to "make me something funnnnnnnnnnn"
