They keep turning the water off and on in our building because they are trying to fix something. I basically have to check my email before I go to take a dump or fill my water bottle

Damn Republicans. If they hadn't cut the budget, all of these problems would not exist.
6/7/2013 5:57:20 PM
Before the cuts, there were 650 maintenance men on staff to fix all leaks simultaneously and instantaneously.

Slow reaction time to water issues dads to mold which leads to health issues which leads to a lot more money than they tried to save during the budget cut.

I've had shit like this both in the private and public sectors. During my time working for a school district, we had neighboring school districts competing for a new building by basically showing how shitty theirs were. Meanwhile the building I was working in was far older, and next on the replacement list, but we were getting screwed because we actually budgeted for repairs to facilities, rather than just letting it rot until we got a new building. And to be honest, budgeting for building upkeep is not a high priority in state government in general. Even prior to the budget cuts in the last few years, it seems that the University system was bad about building fancy new buildings and then not maintaining them. Most of my buildings had very fancy systems that they could not afford to upkeep. Big ass TV displays, fancy fiber optic lighting, etc. Shit one of the buildings I frequently use has had a revolving door (manual, not automatic) that hasn't worked since it was installed. And nobody is in a hurry to spend the money to fix it, so we have to use a little standard door on the side instead to go in and out. But it sure looks fancy there.

A reality of university budget cuts tropical storms on older buildings.
