I've got a friend that is going to be a freshman. He is assigned a 100 level room in Becton. He wanted to know if that was in the basement or ground floor. Anyone know?

Good luck to your friend... I hope he has a good experience at state!

I lived in 101 Becton like 10 years ago. I think for even numbers it will be ground floor out his window and odd numbers it will be 2nd floor out his window if I remember correctly.

I lived in Becton for about 2 months before they tore it down in 2004; I was in room 300 something, which was the third floor, making 100 ground level. They might have changed the numbers after remodeling though. it used to be staggered where each floor was gender specific (the 4th floor was female and had a different key, like that stopped us)

Holy shit do I have stories about Becton, Bagwell and Berry, and the rest of the freak side east side. But that was like 15 years ago. Did they really tear it down?

100 is the bottom floor. I started on that floor. Now I'm here.

The honors quad is still there. Lived in Bagwell my freshman year in 09. They remodeled the whole place a few years before I was there though. Really nice place but many of the people who lived in the honors dorms were weird as hell.

that's what I was referencing, the original quad was torn down in 04 and remodeled into the honors quad with the C Store and everything. that whole side of campus was (is) shitty...becton, berry, bagwell, gold, syme, etc. terrible dorms full of weirdos

uhh they never tore it down. they tore down the old c-store, but they just renovated the dorms (i.e. gave them air conditioning.)

i lived in becton my freshman year (03-04) and on the first floor (100 level). this is ground level with the quad. the basement is 000.

we had a corner room, so there were twice as many windows so our room stayed cool even when it was a billion degrees outside. lucky bastards with their air conditioning.

When I lived there in 09-10 I loved it at first simply because of how nice the place was compared to the other dorms I had been at on campus. Then as the year went on I realized how much time I was spending on the other side of campus because I could actually be around people who didn't bring up Magic Cards or Dungeons and Dragons every other sentence.

Never are the differences between the Scholars and Honors programs more apparent than in the dorm rooms of the participants.

heh, I helped with that remodel, esp dealign with the elevators on the 1 building, the one with the mechanical room basment. The main/ground floor on it originally had a flat elevator lobby floor, not that freaky ramp leading into the elevator it has now. Its what happens when an architech is too dumb to realize that a 7 foot elevator door frame will not fit when the floor to floor from basement to ground is like 6'11"

I lived on the 3rd floor in 2001. Technically 4th floor for my side of the building. Fun times.

That quad looked soooooo much better after they put a new cupola on Berry. Looked a little odd previously with a plaftorm in the middle of the roof with nothing on it.

Had a friend who lived in the basement level of Berry in 1999-2000. Good sized room, but I don't think I would have wanted to live underground. Coming from her previous shoebox (Sullivan C room) the space was nice though.

I know that this used to be our main dorm and it was the largest in the south iirc but did they really have rooms in the basement in recent history?

^1911 stopped being a dorm in the 60's, so no. That was sarcasm, I believe.

Ground floor. I lived in #220. The third floor (300's) was the girls floor. And the basement 3/4's floor where double digits. First floor, aka ground floor is decent but you can see in from the courtyard really easy. It seems like they have made the rooms smaller as a result of the AC and remodel.
