our 06 Legacy sedan keeps going into limp mode. The problem is intermittent, but frequent. I've done some reading about the problem and it always seems to point to the accelerator pedal assembly, though some will blame it on the throttle position sensor. I even read several stories about a lot of money being spent to have it diagnosed and the dealer not finding a problem. It seems like it would be cheaper to do some trial and error parts replacements than have it hauled 40 miles to the dealer and maybe not get a straight answer after paying them for diagnostics. What do you Japanese car gurus think? This is the first vehicle I've had with a drive by wire system and I don't have computer diagnostic equipment.

You can not return electrical parts. You will need a lab scope or something reading tb maf and or other shit in that cam bus while you're driving

Where are you located? You are gonna need to take it someplace that can log it and see when exactly the code is tripping, and what is tripping it. Once you have that it will be easy to fix. On the Drive by wire cars there is not actual separate throttle position sensor on the throttle body it is part of the Motor that opens and closes the throttle body. first easy thing to check on that car is make sure the stop is under the pedal in/on the floor. i have seen them get kicked off and then the throttle over-travels and sets the code.

I'll check that out. I'm a long way from the Triangle, but I appreciate the offer. The first time it did it was twice on a 30 mile round trip. About half the way was in limp mode on a major highway. I just ran it a few minutes ago and it was not doing it. Folks that have the right testing equipment are few and far between in this area, and it seems like a pedal assembly and a used throttle body would be cheaper than having it hauled 40 miles to Wilmington if it acts up again and paying for dealer diagnostics, especially when it is an intermittent problem and may not do it while they have it. If it's doing ok and all they have is a stored code, they wouldn't really have any more to go on than I do. We have plenty of farm trucks and trailers, but not anything you could get such a low car on unless it was on its way to the scrap yard.

yeah a used pedal assembly or throttle body would rule out each of those...look up oak leaf auto salvage, they ship and usually have lots of subaru parts
