Bought a small roll from this farmer truck that rolled up to our work place. The cutie working talked me into it. Mmm I am pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It's the first time I've tried goats cheese.

Don't post big ass pics in here. Please.

^^^D'aww, that is the cutest possible troll response

Trader Joe's has a blueberry + goat cheese log and a honey + goat cheese log, they're both pretty wonderful. My go-to way to eat chevre is with sliced apples... though I haven't found a cheese that doesn't work that way

Best salad using goat cheese: goat cheese, strawberries, walnuts, baby spinach. And maybe a vinaigrette or sauce of some sort

I suspect you've had goat cheese many times in the form of "feta cheese" and just didn't know it, but yeah...it's good.

Damn that looks good.
About to cut my grass. I guess I'll lay some goat cheese logs on the sidewalk and spray them with the lawnmower as I go by.

Drunken Goat is amazing. I'm not sure if they sell it in North Carolina.

^ I'm seeing flat leaf parsley, chives, rosemary, and fresh thyme. That looks so good...

I was just looking at the bigger pieces on the side. Small pic on a phone

I have all of that growing. Except the chives. They didn't produce very much.

^Sad on the chives, but you should totally do that for dinner otherwise

My personal favorite goat cheese recipe is a bit of a family tradition (this generation only, but we make it a decent amount) is a mixture of cream cheese and goat cheese (~1 log chevre, 1 block cream cheese, both softened so they'll mix well), and chopped rosemary. Put that mixture in the center of a sheet of puff pastry dough, wrap it up so you've got a long rectangle sort of thing, then bake at 350 until golden.

Or on pizza, there are a lot of good combinations... Some I've had before (on dough or in crepes) are:
-olive oil, sliced roma or sundried tomatoes, crumbled goat cheese, roma tomatoes, and spinach leaves
-olive oil, artichoke hearts, olives, crumbled goat cheese
-carmelized onions, baby spinach, roma tomatoes, crumbled goat cheese
-goat cheese, sliced tomatoes, sliced zucchini, sliced yellow squash

I'm sure I'll think of more things and post them here later

^If you happen to have a good bread, what I would do is mix the goat cheese with herbs, then use it as a spread. A sliced baguette would be good.

...I shouldn't be posting here when I'm hungry XD

What about a banana nut bread? I got some really ripe bananas begging to be made into bread.

I have no idea how that combination of flavors would work... You should try it and report back. Cream cheese and banana bread is good, but goat cheese often has a stronger, more savory flavor

^Even if they don't make a good combination, the worst that can happen is that you'll have both banana bread -and- goat cheese which you will consume separately.

I chopped up some cilantro, basil, thyme, oregano, chives and rosemary. Mixed it in with the cheese and spread it in on a slice of banana nut bread I made.

I'm glad the banana and herb flavors went well together. I may have to do that later today.

Just made a pepper, onion, and goat cheese omelette. Amazing

The goat cheese was drunken goat.

The banana bread and goat cheese spread sounds delicious. I need to find a good banana bread recipe.

I made a goat cheese herb log for a party earlier last week...
I used a homemade herb oil as the base (evoo, rosemary, thyme, basil, parsley, oregano, garlic, other random things from our garden), spread that out on a piece of saran wrap and rolled up a goat cheese log in it, then wrapped that up in tin foil. Stuck that in the fridge and let it marinate for two days...
It was sooooooooooooo good. Oh man.

I was explaining what the other things I had brought on the table were, and when I pointed to the log and said "this is...-" one of my friends shouted "CRACK", because of how fast it was disappearing XD

I'm glad I made it in advance and let it marinate for a while though, the taste of the herbs seeped through, with the help of the olive oil

If you're capable of roasting a whole chicken, try stuffing goat cheese and herbs under the skin of the breast and thighs....awesome

i'm kind of incredulous. seems like the chicken fat would make something gross happen. so what's the end result like?
