We have 6 3MW Diesels on the outer banks that are pretty cool. 20 cylinders
5/24/2013 11:10:06 AM
Cummins Serial numbers 001 and 002 ... (first two off the line which is why i recommended going with cat since they have the bugs worked out on their 2.75mw)lol 300hp lost to..... the radiator fan....

we were actually testing our emergency diesel fire water pump todayour combustion turbines are dual fuel, so natural gas or ultra-low sulfur No. 2 fuel oil as an emergency. we have the ability to store 3 million gallons and we can burn it faster than it can be unloaded. at full load, water injection flow pretty much equals the fuel oil flow.some pretty badass equipment.
5/24/2013 4:29:41 PM
On Siemens SGT6-5000F units, water injection is at about the same rate as fuel consumption. As far as I know, the GE 7FA units don't consume nearly as much. But then mitigating NOx hasn't always been a priority. Wish the hell they'd let me go down to Sutton for all this. I'm low low on the totem pole though. Say hey to Mitch for me.
5/24/2013 4:37:41 PM
hey, sutton 2X1 combined cycle, in Wilmington? /me was there the other day to do his QA check on the elevator one of our crews installed.
5/24/2013 10:14:20 PM
^yeah, that's us. did you do the boiler elevator or the one in the admin building?on topic: we have been testing/tuning on diesel the past few days. 170 MW per unit (2 units) in simple cycle mode . that's a lot of fuel oil.

I have nothing to add to this thread
8/21/2013 5:21:46 PM
ive moved about 3 of them at my job to various locations across the country to skyscrapers. thats all i can add. i have never personally visually beheld the power that they are able to create
8/21/2013 5:59:55 PM
Going to complete testing on two new 2.5 mw and two upgraded 1.3 mw cat/kato units tomorrow.
