while disturbing, can we say out of context?

also, I thought this thread was about Amy's Baking Company.

Because that is WTF.

that this happens so often without family members retaliating bothers me as much as the fact that it happens at all

At least they got video. That camera is probably the best weapon available in a situation like that

If the cops heard yelling and had reasonable cause to suspect some sort of abuse was happening, they have every right to enter.

from the YT description:

The Backstory:
Police are called out to an apartment for a noise compliant by the neighbors. The three occupants inside non-aggressively exercise their fourth amendment right, refusing the police entry as they demand at gun point to let them inside without a search warrant or probable cause.

Maybe these people should go back to college and party; that's where you learn to shut and lock the door and ignore the knocking cops.

It's possible that the cops couldn't hear anything the guy was saying while they were outside since we couldn't hear the cop at all through the door. Not sure about the tasing part though.

From the youtube description, it says noise complaint. Honestly, is it that hard to open your door, go out and talk to the officer and carry on with your life. I can understand the not wanting to let an officer enter your house, but I'm 99.9% positive those officers asked them to come outside first (before the camera was turned on)

hey remember in the 80's how tasers were marketed to police stations as "The last alternative to shooting people" and people got all scared because we imagined cops shocking the piss out of us left and right without any fear of repercussion but we calmed down because someone said "there's no proof that will happen" and then police shootings fell dramatically in proportion to the number of taserings?

wait, that wasn't a memory. That was a brochure

fuck

I wonder if they had guns ready when they knocked on the door? I would be so overwhelmed if there were guns brandished from the get-go.

I'm pretty regularly at a house show and regularly interact with cops for noise complaints. These are my findings in business, residential neighborhoods of different income levels.

1) The most common suggestion that they have for a bunch of kids in their 20's or younger who are all probably drinking is to leave.

2) They will do anything in their power to gain access to the house

3) They will use any excuse for being there.

One time a cop showed up at 8pm and told us that we had to get everyone out of the house including the bands in 5 minutes. First we were like "Sorry the show is over, it should be quiet from now on", to which he replied "I don't care everyone needs to be gone". We laughed and said "yeah thats not going to happen"

Fuck cops. More importantly fuck anyone who calls the police for a noise complaint. Maybe you should mind your business or get a hobby.

^this.

On several occasions in college, during a party at an apartment, the cops would show up, knock on the door (we'd open it, thinking it was more guests), see cops, shut the door, lock it, turn down any loud audio and just chill for a bit. never had any problems.

is this like one of those facebook posts with 500,000 views and 3000 comments where some cop is restraining a dog by putting his knee on it and everyone goes "OH MY GOD WHAT A DOUCHEBAG COP THAT DOG DIDNT DO ANYTHING FUCK COPS"

...and even though someone posts multiple times that the dog was actually attacking another dog and the cop was restraining it until he found the owner everyone ignores the comment and continues to say "OH MY GOD WHAT A DOUCHEBAG COP THAT DOG DIDNT DO ANYTHING FUCK COPS"

Good day, I am the cameraman. I am an unemployed disabled? veteran from Afghanistan. My wife is a preschool teacher. The third person is a family friend. Our day started with our only car breaking down while taking my wife to work. We just received our tax refund on Tues. and had planned to get it repaired that weekend. When my wife returned home, we discussed the car situation. I proposed getting a new vehicle with the refund rather than repair this problem child of a vehicle. My wife disagreed.

We verbally argued outside on our back porch. Yes admittedly we had gotten loud, but there was NO violence between us, we love and respect each other too much. I'm sorry but I will give more details about this at a later date so this may not be used against me in my pending trial. I would just like to say I did everything I could think of to resolve this tense situation peacefully without relinquishing the rights I fought for and swore an oath before God and country to? protect and defend."

Yup, still siding with the cops on this one.

He started screaming when the cops placed his hand on the wife's arm (in a totally non-threatening manner that could in no way be taken as 'assault'). He's a vet, so I'm assuming he knows how to handle himself and could have easily posed a threat to the cops.

Nope, but if you can handle yourself in a fight, you know how to show it. Body language is everything, I'm saying odds are, he was presenting himself in a threatening manner.

yup in my opinion once someone even clenches their fist the fight is on...and thats any joe schmoe

if its some trained military dude then he best not even raise his voice

the cops dont have to put up with that shit having to wait for some jackass meathead to throw a sporting punch before they can do anything.

if youre trained they know it thats all the more reason to ensure your being even less combative than the average joe because theyre not gonna try to grapple you to the floor their gonna distance themselves from you and employ their weapons.

call it less rights or whatever its the damn reality and i full support the cops having that option
