The ones between Cameron Village Library and Broughton High School? I've read mixed reviews and I don't mind window A/C units. Just wondering if anyone has lived there first hand. I just need a 1BR around downtown that won't break the bank. I've got some time though. Landlord is selling our current house July 31. budget is <800 incl. everything. The lady at the desk for Cameron Court across from St. Marys was realllly snotty and didn't make me wanna live there. Grosvenor Gardens next door to that is too expensive.

Mandy Moore's husband lived there. I'll get his take.

I loved Cameron Court. Heard good things about Raleigh Apts too, though.

the no AC thing sucks in the summer. the rooms get super hot. other than that they're pretty cool.

I hope you like expensive power bills.
5/2/2013 10:16:46 AM
Is it the heat and window A/C unit that drove it up?
5/2/2013 10:33:19 AM
Are these the apartments that are directly behind Broughton? Like the tennis courts/gym?

I banged a girl that lived there and it was just a little old for my style.you can get something much nicer and more up to date with that rent.the window unit wasnt the problem...the issue has to do with the lack of insulation, caulking, etc...youre constantly pumping electricity.they are ok i guess just a bit old.

This thread prompted me to call my rental office about my upcoming lease renewal. I am not happy about the rent hike I'm going to have to take again. Anyone know of some good 1 bedrooms for under $650? I need a roommate.

I would run away, but it's the best deal I've found for a 1BR, I'm with NCSUHippie.Any other ideas?

Think about it this way, pay 600 rent and $200 for electric in a crappy apartment. Or pay 800$ for a nice apartment.Rule #1 don't be house poor.

I currently live in an apartment complex off Duraleigh, and my current rent is around $670. This will soon go to around $700 which is getting kind of expensive for some of the shit I have to deal with.I have found quite a few places in the Millbrook/Lynn Road/Six Forks area that are cheaper, or a similar price. Places likehttp://www.montecitowestapartments.com/http://www.quailridgeapartments.com/http://www.shellbrookapartments.com/are just a few of my finds. Of course, I am looking for a 1 bedroom, which is so much more expensive than a two bedroom (which is usually just $100 more!)Good luck![Edited on May 2, 2013 at 4:22 PM. Reason : ]

If you don't mind a very small place (566 sq. ft. to be exact) drive along Daniels street and look for "For Rent" signs at the Cameron Village Condos II (the grey and brick units on the west side). I lived there for 3 years and they weren't bad. Still not far from window units--they have an in-wall heat/AC combo similar to what you might find in a hotel--but it's a step up and I wasn't usually too hot or too cold. They're individually owned and rented so there's no property office though and your rent may vary.If you can deal with the lack of space, great location and not a bad property. Just don't bring too much stuff with you! My rent was cheap--I think only $495/mo--but this was from 2004 to 2007 so it's likely gone up.

this thread is relevant to my interestsI'd prefer to live alone this october

How much do other people pay to live alone? I don't know how people could afford $1,000 rent. I wouldn't mind having a roommate actually, but when I first got my place 2 years ago, I didn't have much of a choice.

Other than the place I lived at about a year ago which was a shittty apartment, I haven't really seen much cheaper than $640 (The Beckanna). If the walls/ceiling weren't so thin and the neighbors weren't partying all the time, I would move back to that crappy apartment. The utilities were surprisingly affordable and it was 1200 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths ($560/month).

I've been inside the beckanna (hehe) and they were surprisingly decent for the price

I live at the Beckanna and I will raise some hell if they're going for $640....I sure pay a lot more than that[Edited on May 3, 2013 at 1:15 AM. Reason : stalk stalk stalk]

you can get a decent small house a little further out of raleigh for what you're paying in rent.[Edited on May 3, 2013 at 8:51 AM. Reason : .]

I lived in a 5 bedroom house on oberlin rd that cost 900 bucks in 2005. It was fantastic.

^^ Hell, you can get a decent small house ITB for around that price if you're down with the east side.

I'm at the Beckanna we have a 1 br and our rent is like 692 with a 20 dollar addition because of the dog. The apartment is pretty nice and we haven't had any complaints so far. with internet and electricity and water it should come out to less than 800.Also I used to live at the Raleigh Apts. and I'd avoid the place, the location was nice but the power bill was expensive there was plumbing leaks, no insulation, the baseboard heating was another huge powersink that no one else has mentioned as well as not working all that well and limiting furniture layout.[Edited on May 3, 2013 at 7:22 PM.
