a 1997 car on distributor-less full standalone. factory ecu still in possession but no distributor on engine. what sensors need to be retained to pass inspection? a legit inspection obdii scan, btw.

Are you throwing any codes? If not, only the required Emissions Components for that make/model are required.

What ever evap components comes on the motor that is in the car. The emissions book only goes by year and motor size.

so you can have missing TPS, missing injector connections, knock sensors, etc as long as the emissions-specific items are still OK?

Assuming that the factory ecu won't throw a trouble code with the missing stuff. Which I'm pretty sure it will. It would pass visual, but it's a 97 so it needs to still pass obd2 unless you're in a non emissions county iirc.
